"Best" is value-laden and arguable. Always safer to point out that the Marine Corps is the largest elite fighting force in the world. While the Army, Navy, and Air Force have elite units within, the entire Corps is considered one (by Jane's and other 'standards.') Critics, in turn, generally argue that the Corps is just part of the Navy anyway, but we all know that's not true. The Navy Hymn may play before that of the Marines, but that's only because bands always want to close on a strong note.
