It's this group empathy and compassion that keeps me on BP.

Ohio takes over - the US after only Ohio survives

Slight adjustment ...

The differences aren't genetic, they're cultural. The Japanese are some of the least touchy-feely people in the world...virtually no direct contact with those outside of direct family. People who have even a slight case of the sniffles wear a mask out in public. They are very clean people (not insinuating the Italians aren't)...outside of Singapore you probably won't find cleaner public spaces. They are also about the most compliant people on the planet...if their government tells them measures to take, they heed those measures almost obsessively.

Their government also has a strong history of not screwing with average citizen.
That trust is earned compared to most countries, especially US. Cracking down on amakudari (lobbying / bureaucrats taking jobs in private sector) is their biggest scandal / corruption issue.
Japan would never send citizens to go vote in these conditions.

Remember when that asshole was trying to film some kind of documentary about Katrina, fucked up his little boat and had to be rescued?

He's like an extremely poor, stupid, unlucky person's Bono.

My daughter lives their many Japanese have multi generational homes with newborns in a house with Srs. Yes they are less touchy feely. And it probably is Japanese and Asians are germ aware , practicing hand washing and mask wearing during the winter and in face of the flu . They do seem to recover better and they have a different set of genes ie 90 plus per cent of Japanese are rh positive.. my daughter says that when asked blood type they only know type don’t know their rh factor. Fun fact Japanese believe blood type affects personality. Also yes schools are closed and large gatherings have been stopped in most parts of Japan malls clubs restaurants and theaters are open.. they haven went to one size fits all.,stronger measures are in areas with the virus. The rest of Japan has not went to full draconian measures.
