Coronavirus (COVID-19) is too exciting for adults to discuss (CLOSED)

I’m starting to see things move a bit more..,I am hopeful everyone can have their second dose by late May or early June.
Right now , that sounds a bit overly optimistic. But it would be wonderful if that were to happen. I believe if everyone has at least a first shot that would go a long way to stopping the pandemic as even the first shot has a significant degree of protection. There has been no research on this but there is some data that suggests so.

Johnson & Johnson expects to release critical results from its Covid-19 vaccine trial in as little as two weeks — a potential boon in the effort to protect Americans from the coronavirus — but most likely won’t be able to provide as many doses this spring as it promised the federal government because of unanticipated manufacturing delays.

I'm 39 years old and I live in Ohio. All I want is for someone to tell me when I'm going to be able to get these shots.
I'm not a teacher, not at risk, not a medical worker and I don't work for the government.

I have absolutely no idea when or how to get a vaccine and I don't know where to go for answers. Honestly there might as well not be one because it seems like it's so, so, so far away.

Well, if everyone had your risk profile, there would be no need for a vaccine. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get it, it just means it’s more likely you’ll get sick or die from numerous things that will never have a vaccine. My guess is that you’ll drive by a Walgreens in May and see a long line. Then, you’ll know it’s time. :biggrin2:

Thanks for everyone's responses (except for jwins - fuck you).

Hamilton County has a registration portal where I simply input my information. Who knows? My number might be called sooner than anticipated.
At this point, April/May/June would be fantastic. I just want to enjoy the summer with my family and have friends over to our home again.

Can't collapse if you never have a shot in the title game

Don't know where else to put this... but my favorite restaurant/beer place in my neighborhood just closed permanently. It was a staple for over 20 years. Closed because of covid restrictions, couldn't get enough patrons in with the distancing. Pretty damn sad, I felt like Norm walking out of the last scene of cheers. But really worried we're about to see that left and right the next year even more than we've seen.

Unfortunately it takes several weeks after both shots to have whatever “full” immunity is provided (at least that’s what I’ve seen). I hope what she did get helps strongly to alleviate it.
Someone I know at a major health organization said they are setting up vaccine administration all over the country... but have no way to manage tracking for that second shot. No notifications or follow-up reminders - they give the first shot and hope people come back. Since they're projecting a loss for the service, getting new systems in place isn't in the plan at the moment. Might be quite the waste if people decide to skip the second half of the process.

Yes, this is true. You get the card with the date on it. That’s it. And much like antibiotics, they could really fuck things up if they don’t get the second one (take them until they are gone)
