of course. I don’t want to be on some dick bag’s viral social media posts. we are approaching 7 months of 14 days to flatten the curve so forgive me for calling bullshit on your sentiment that we’d have already seen a Buckeye game or two this fall.
Well you're comparing 2 different realities. In one world, people actually listened and flattening the curve was the indicator that things weren't going to be a complete shitshow. In our actual world, people had to demonstrate their freedom and that those "experts" don't know nothin cuz they did their facebook research so they really know everything they need to and don't need some egghead telling them what to do.

They aren't wearing masks where they are playing plenty of college football, however. I didn't see many masks at Kyle Field last weekend, for example.

Check back in on them in 10 days. And the day that we--or any other Big Ten school--starts taking our cues from fucking aggy, you can just go ahead and end the conference then. Oh, and Mullen had an infected kid playing (knowingly or not remains to be seen) on Saturday, and now UF foosball is shut down with 19 positive tests on Tuesday. You want the foosball this year then limit or eliminate fans in the stands and everyone remotely near the program wear the god damned masks.

Yet we did take our cues from "them" champ. The B1G played chicken and lost, then had to come back with their tails between their legs and get something going before it all crashed and burned. You're trying to turn this into a mask wearing debate, which it is not. Wear your mask please!

R-0(naught) and "K"

"By now many people have heard about R0—the basic reproductive number of a pathogen, a measure of its contagiousness on average. But unless you’ve been reading scientific journals, you’re less likely to have encountered k, the measure of its dispersion. The definition of k is a mouthful, but it’s simply a way of asking whether a virus spreads in a steady manner or in big bursts, whereby one person infects many, all at once. After nine months of collecting epidemiological data, we know that this is an overdispersed pathogen, meaning that it tends to spread in clusters, but this knowledge has not yet fully entered our way of thinking about the pandemic—or our preventive practices."

I'm wondering how long we are going to "live" this way? Are empty arenas, limited travel, and working from home (if you're working) our future? Is that living?

Yeah, yeah, "until there is a vaccine..." is the response to everything. What if there isn't one? What if millions of people refuse to get it? Then what? Forced vaccinations?

At some point we're going to have to accept this risk as part of life. We've had viruses before and we'll have them again - we are fragile creatures whether we like it or not. But the approach taken with this virus did not work. "Fifteen days to flatten the curve" has turned into 7 months and counting. "Someone tested positive! Cancel everything!" has to stop at some point. This has gotten ridiculous.

I'm all for the smart people taking the vaccine and the stupid people refusing to do so. It's about time that we derail the Express Line to Idiocracy.
