That's not quite what they are saying. Here is the quote from your article;

“We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus,” Nabarro said.

“The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”

Herd immunity
Most epidemiologist say using Herd Immunity as way of dealing with outbreaks is not a viable way to deal with outbreaks and would cause massive unnecessary deaths. We're talking DEATHS in the MILLIONS to achieve Herd Immunity.
So, please! Let's not try to validate a deadly theory that is never justified other than by politicians. It is in one word "INSANITY".

stay home.

Its exactly what they are saying. Herd immunity has nothing to do with it.

At some point we're going to have to accept this risk as part of life. We've had viruses before and we'll have them again - we are fragile creatures whether we like it or not. But the approach taken with this virus did not work. "Fifteen days to flatten the curve" has turned into 7 months and counting. "Someone tested positive! Cancel everything!" has to stop at some point. This has gotten ridiculous.
we are, above all, stubborn creatures, which is why flattening was never truly attempted.

Arrogance is a very close bedfellow.

A distance third is that we're fickle and lazy. Even If people took it seriously before, which is a very large if, most of us don't stay as vigilant or as consistent as time passes. Not because the threat has changed at all but because we have a limited capacity for consistency, especially for a non-tangible threat for many.

We'll find out very soon what happens when you don't really try to limit the virus beyond what's easy, as we've been rapidly approaching or pursuing that course for a while

there is a valid question to consider the trade-off. We are a very fragile species and that includes mental health and the house of cards supporting our health and finances.

A nuanced conversation would be wonderful instead of we're all going to die vs everyone is fine but if you think you're one of the weak ones you should stay home.

I don’t consider myself weak..I have no good reason to be out and about. Enjoyment or making myself FEEL good aren’t good reasons to go out.

Common sense should rule decisions about health but many are just selfish and spoiled bye how easy things have been till now. A mask is such a small thing and yet it's become politicized. And then there are those young people driving the virus spread right now who just feel invincible and refuse to show some common sense. The country will pay an enormous price for all this. The suffering will go on for years because of selfishness and incompetence.

I’ve been naked in public, just not while yanking my crank. Back in the streaking days, I was among a group of guys who were on the 11 o’clock local TV news, who filmed us from the end zone as we were running on the track inside the ‘Shoe. They only showed our backsides from 50 yards away, but we were naked on TV back in 1974.

1873. Duh

Well, yeah. Link
In 1870, The Ohio State University was founded as a land-grant university. Its original name was the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College due to its location in a farming community. The first classes were held on September 17, 1873 with the first class of six men graduating in 1878.
I could have gone with the founding year of 70 or my graduation year of 78, but I went with the year of my first classes.
