If I had to guess right now I'd say the NHL and NBA seasons are over and MLB won't even have one.

I think the NBA may pull off a completed, if shortened, season down here at Wide World of Sports, and MLS sounds like they’re considering playing fan-free matches at the complex as well (if I could pull some strings and get in with my ID for either...dream scenario right there lol).

As for things reopening, I’m at Universal right now and things are going pretty well. Lots of signage to remind you to stay distanced, masks required, temperature checks before you leave the parking garages. It’s just a few restaurants and stores open right now, but it feels good, and safer than at the grocery store with lax rules/enforcement. But I’m still not happy hearing that they’re eyeing going to Phase 2 at the state level next week already. Still 2 weeks too soon, IMO. But it seems like the big dogs in town are continuing to drive things in a more conservative and responsible nature.

Well, and not to bring politics into this forum, but the long-game play for insurance companies is obvious...even if coverage for pre-existing conditions are not allowed to be completely denied, they can still charge a fuckload more for them, and there is evidence that COVID survivors have damage to their lungs...so, watch for them to use money and resources to lobby like absolute crazy for the antibody tests, because then they can take anyone exposed to the virus (sick at the time or not) and put them in the preexisting category. This could absolutely dwarf what the banks got as a result of their bailout.

Lol what? How the f are insurance companies going to charge more? It doesn’t work that way.

So, not sure how many here are real car people, but COVID19 has laid waste to the Cannon Ball Run records. Yes, this is a very real thing.

In 2013 the first sub 30-hour run was completed at 28H50M. That record was the fastest time in seven years prior.

In 2019 the first run with an average speed in excess of 100 MPH was recorded. Included in that crew was Doug Tabbutt who currently resides in Ohio. Averaging 100 MPH+ over 2,800 miles is a pretty incredible thing considering that there are stops for gas. Their time was 27H25M. It was thought that this record would hold for a good long time. IIRC this team had a very big team of spotters throughout their run to spot and detract law enforcement.

Well, since COVID19 entered the picture, there have been at least seven other runs that have been under 27H25M. Apparently there has been at least one that is sub 25H. Let that sink in. One day and an hour to go from Manhattan to Redondo Beach, CA... including gas stops.

Unprecedented times indeed. I’d give a nut to be in one of those teams. Save your lectures about driving like an idiot, I get that. The lure is in the planning and modification of a car to be able to make that kind of run successfully. I don’t know that after completing a day of being in a car averaging 100 MPH+ that my woody would ever subside.
