I'm only laughing at the people blaming Trump because some fuckstick drank aquarium cleaner.

See, we can bring back Tiki drinks.

All that said, I certainly don't want a moronic run on this stuff by otherwise healthy people.

I dunno if 220 million doses is a lot or not, but it seems like as long as it doesn't get sold to people who have no need of it, it appears that aggressive measures are being taken to meet demand...

Inadvertently, it might be better that Trump raised the issue because if you look at the anecdotal stuff domestically, there was gonna be a run by private physicians on it as the profile grew.

There was a run by someone. Friend tried to order for his clinics and the stock was gone.

Well, if a bunch of 'em want to croak like the folks back in the old country, bully, bully.

Still, I'm picturing some smug West Loop yuppie couple who just moved into the neighborhood and have decided that they're going to run out the unsightly, old dive bar while being completely clueless as to what the place is. I'd pay big money (and even a few rolls of toilet paper) to be in the room and watch the looks on their faces when they're told what the place is and who those "senior citizens" drinking in there are.

truckers can’t truck if there’s nothing coming in from China/Mexico/SE asian because manufacturing is shut down there.
Farmer can Farm ... haven’t heard of them being under some “dont farm rule”.
Your ability to write code is independent of your ability to go to work, it is dependent on your work restrictions being Military and all.

and yeah that has nothing to do with the local Hospital but what happens you (or a loved one heaven forbid) get into a car/bike accident while on the way to work, hit by a semi and you need an ICU bed. Then you would probably care a whole helva lot about the situation at the local hospitals... Maybe I’m wrong
What does manufacturing shutdowns in foreign countries have to do with hospital capacity in the US? And your statement "Farmer can Farm" supports my point that they are unaffected by hospital load. As for my ability to code, right now I cannot telework because out servers will not be opened up to outside access, and the amount of government-issued, certified laptops is limited (contractors are at the bottom of the totem pole)...luckily right now unit CO is allowing we non-mission-essential programmers access to base so we can get to work, else we'd be out of a job. My ability to code is also independent of how crowded the local hospital is, which is my point. And I don't think having an open ICU bed just for the remote possibility of my getting hit by a fucking semi would justify the loss of hundreds or thousands of local jobs.

My point that the general economy is in no way tied to hospital capacity stands.

Disease deaths per day worldwide:
Seasonal flu: 1027
Pneumonia: 2216
Tuberculosis: 3014
Covid-19: 56

included for reference

In the last couple days it's risen by:
3/18: +973 deaths
3/17: +817 deaths
3/16: +642 deaths
3/15: +686 deaths
3/14: +404 deaths
3/13: +448 deaths

So in 5 days the death rate has more than doubled.
And this is with everything shut down.
Project this out 3 months of allowing it to spread unmitigated, and tell me how it goes.

It's been a few days...
3/19 1080
3/20 1356
3/21 1626
3/22 1628
3/23 1873

Occasionally it levels off for a day, and then right back to the expected curve =/

Milli asked about US deaths before... it's the same pattern with smaller numbers.
hit 553 yesterday
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
edit: for clarity, the US link "new total deaths" end of each day.
The dated numbers are worldwide, that day only - not a total.
