It should be imo. He lucked into having Stroud and even then held him back some...after that the results are wanting. I could maybe see Frye getting one more year, but not Dennis. We heard that there would be massive changes on the staff...so far Fleming and Eliano are it, but Dennis is suspect A for next up imo. Then maybe Frye. Rest of the coaches should stay in place after that.

If he's truly being kept around as a "favor" to Urban Meyer then I think that favor has been fulfilled at this point. Meyer brought in coaches like Greg Studrawa and Bill Davis that did years of harm to recruiting. Some positions still haven't recovered.

Which is probably the right way to go. If the OC is going to actually be in charge of the offense, let him choose his staff.

Could the new OC also be our QB coach though? There's no hurry on Dennis whatsoever, do our due diligence to make sure the rest of the hires are the right guys.

I was thinking that as well, which is why that hire is the linchpin to the changes and the timeline.

I’m such a good QB coach I was replaced by a guy with more years of HC experience than my entire resume can be a pitch you can do something with if you really sell it.

Ohio State hired Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator, an addition to the staff announced Friday.

O'Brien will replace Corey Dennis on coach Ryan Day's staff. Dennis, the son-in-law of former OSU coach Urban Meyer, has been the Buckeyes' quarterbacks coach for the last four years. Dennis was on the road recruiting as recently as Wednesday.

New dropped earlier tonight that Ohio State is set to hire former college and NFL head coach, as well as current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to be the offensive coordinator for Ohio State. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the news, and it comes on the heels of rumors of OSU looking to hire someone to take over the playcalling duties from head coach Ryan Day.

However, as a part of that hire, it also appears as though another assistant coach may be parting ways with the program. According to multiple reports, O’Brien will be replacing quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis on staff.

Dennis, as most will recall, is the son-in-law of former head coach Urban Meyer. He has been on staff in Columbus for six years. He was a quality control coach for two years before being promoted to quarterbacks coach by Ryan Day in 2024.
