Do the extra scholarships go to deserving walk-ons, or maybe a better chance now of offering CJ Peake, Nick Schepis, and Andrew Dailey?

Tressel usually saves a schollie or two for 5th-year walk-ons (e.g., Antonio Smith this year). Still, those schollies we gain on transfers go into the pot just the same. For example, say we had 20 scholarships to give and Tressel planned on saving two for walk-ons...two transfers now gives us 22 scholarships and thus two more to give to HS recruits while still keeping the two for walk-ons.

Should these guys all transfer, anyone out there know if the school's APR takes a hit? Is there any distinction made between transferring due to playing time issues, and transferring due to academic performance? I'd hate to lose scholarships down the road.

The only way OSU's APR will take a hit is if the transferring players do not graduate from the school they transfer to. If they would flunk out or drop out, it would hurt us.

They usually go to senior walk-ons who have paid their dues, but Antonio Smith and Norman have their scholarships. They could conceivably go to junior walkons who will likely get 2007 paid for (Harden, Trev Robinson).

Bingo. Right now, we have 16 schollies total to give...with three taken, that leaves 13 left. Haw supposedly has already been given his release, so that would bring us up to 17 schollies total and 14 remaining.

What about Underwood and Lane? I heard Lane leaving OSU is very possible and I'm not sure what has been up with Underwood. I think Ginn leaves early and one more transfer/grade issue comes up and leaves us giving out 19. Just my gut feeling mostly though.

Lane has been rumored to YSU since winter workouts...so who knows.

The entire Underwood family has been an enigma in Columbus. Rumors of the doghouse are always present. Again, who really knows?

This is looking like its gonna be an unexpected larger class... Interesting I suppose, however, I wouldn't be surprised if they save a few schollies for next year as it looks to be more talented than this year's class, and we're slated to have a lot fewer scholarship spots open.
