Computer Error Problem

DaytonBuck

I've always liked them
When I restart my computer this pops at the beginning of the boot up

"Warning: your computer CPU Fan fail or speed too low"

Computer is a month away from being 3 years old. This problem first popped tonight when I restarted after installing windows updates. Other than that installing updates I haven't done anything to change the settings.

Any ideas?

Haven't opened my computer but I discovered something in my programs called Asus AI Booster that appears to have some read outs on it.

My CPU Temp just having 32 processes running is 43 C, the fan is 4687 RPMs. System is 48 C and chipset and chasis are 0

Not mine but it looks like this

Does the system seem noticeably slower lately or lock-up? Is it Intel or AMD?

As IAB said, you may just need to crack open the case and check for dust buildup around the fans and within the heat sink on the processor. Remove all that with a vacuum cleaner and a can of compressed air.

The reason I ask if it seems slower is that one of the things that happens with P4 and later Intel systems is the processor automatically steps down power when the system temp rises. If you have dust down inside the fan and heatsink, or clogging all the intakes/outtakes on the case (huge problem if you have any pets and/or keep the system on the floor) then the PC may seem to crawl, because its always running too hot, therefore the CPU always throttles down to half-speed out of self-preservation. It may even shut itself off under extremely high loads.

If you've had any reliability problems, or just feel the computer is running a lot slower (and maybe louder) lately, a good case cleaning may be all that's called for.

High temps and maxed fan speeds under little load are usually a symptom of that.

Right, or just the sensor that reads the cpu speed isnt working correctly. I thinik you can disable the warning in the bios, but if you could get it serviced, etc, I would go that route.
I know you are down around the river but I have a question when you mention getting a PC "serviced". I am not DaytonBuck but my question is who do you recommend for getting a PC worked on. Would you take it to a store like Best Buy, Micro Center, or look in the Yellow Pages? I know a little bit about software go when it comes to hardware I am at a total loss maybe I could blame some of it on my disability since I have never worked on one but that wouldn't be fair. Just curious as to why you might do if you lived in Columbus. Thanks.

I'd recommend trying TCR in Pickerington. They're good people.
