Companies and/or Products You Avoid (MERGED)

Wal*Mart
Sam's Club
Starbucks

I forgot about Starbucks. They were definately on my list when I lived in German Village. Here, I can't avoid the damned things. They've put almost all of the indies out of business. As best I can tell, there's 5 Starbucks within a three block radius of my house.

People in Columbus don't know how good they have it with Cup O'Joe/Stauf's.

I've come to learn that Starbucks is at least a conscientious company and treats it's employees well (or so I've heard). My beef with them is the sheer number of them descending on my town. There are at least 4 Starbucks in and around our downtown area, but we are adamant about supporting the two locally owned coffee shops.

And 100% of their political contributions go to the Democratic Party.

But yeah, it's always a good idea to support the little guy. Unfortunately, there isn't a great "little guy" near my office -- it's either Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. :smash:

I'll take Tim Horton's, thanks.

American Bath Factory

Let me tell you a story. A couple of years ago we were re-doing our bathroom. We decided to go retro with it: we put in a claw-foot tub and old fashioned tile. We purchased an American Bath Factory pipe kit to put on the tub. Our contractor got the instructions and thought that there was no way it would work - the pipes for the cold and hot water were too close together. He called customer service and they assured him they would work. He tried arguing with them but got the old "trust me" response. So he did it according to the instructions. It didn't fit. Pissed as hell, he and I called the company back. A Customer Service Representative got on and after we described our problem, told us that the wrong instructions were being included in that kit. They told us to fax all the information and they would compensate me for the cost of the repair. This I did. 2 weeks, nothing. After several attempts I finally got someone on the phone in authority to discuss this. They said they don't do that and the person who promised that was out of line. I told them tough shit and they said sorry.

American Bath Factory if you are reading this: Fuck You and the Horse you rode in on you cocksucking bastards. You cost me $400.

Dicks.
