Dick's Sporting goods. They have very deceptive ads and when you go to get something in the ad half the time they are out of that product and try to make you get the next thing up, which of course isn't on sale. I'm pretty sure they have some sort of picture up of me after the last time I had to raise hell with them.

JCOSU86, three letters: BBB

Businesses just hate the Better Business Bureau being on their ass...

The last time I tried to file something with the BBB I was appalled at the incredible amount of paperwork and "proof" they need. It would have turned into a "my word against there's" bullshit. Also, it's tough to take legal action against a California company in Columbus without a lawyer. And I wasn't doing that for $400.

The Better Business Bureau is absolutely one of the biggest pieces of garbage in the history of garbage. As you noted, filing a complaint is a nightmare, and there's little the BBB can do to enforce anything. The fact that businesses pay to be a part of the BBB automatically strains the organizations credibility. I have to work with a number of contractors who giggle whenever I bring up the BBB b/c they know they can simply buy their way out of a complaint if necessary. That's pretty much why I stick to Angie's List whenever I need to make a complaint or research a company. It's purely consumer driven which keeps the reviews honest.

Sorry, but to borrow a line from Monty Python... Tim Hortons coffee is like making love in a canoe. Fucking close to water.

Starbucks is decent coffee. Staufs is better. Cup O Joe is average. Caribou coffee tastes like dung.

FWIW, White Castles makes very good coffee. I know the rest of their menu is suspect, but their coffee is above average.

Places that will not get my business....
Time Warner
Caribou Coffee (see above)
BP (or whatever they are going by now)
Wal Mart (just not interested in the State Fair in a store)
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse
Blockbuster (Netflix just kicks their ass)
Oprah anything
Don Pablos

Places that will continue to get my business
Direc TV
Chevy
Volvo
Studio 35
The El Vaquero chain
Barley's
Mitchells Restaurants
Nancy's
Authors-
Vince Flynn
Bruce Campbell
Caleb Carr

I think thats a good start
FWIW, places that will continue to
