Companies and/or Products You Avoid (MERGED)

Home Depot, after an unbelievably bad customer service nightmare involving a lawnmower I bought there. I'm a Lowe's guy now...

F'in love Lowe's ... wife and I bought our house in Feb. Needed a refrigerator. They price matched Bestbuy, had the 20% movers coupon. When it was delievered the door was slightly dinged, they replaced it gave us an additional $100 off... all in all got almost $1k in discounts...

Office Depot. Looked all around for an Epson 800 printer. Had almost everything I wanted. Ordered one online last week-end from Office Depot. Got the confirmation email, after double-checking with online chat that they had it in stock, would ship promptly, etc. Money gone from my Visa account. Spent all week having online chats about why no tracking number yet. First they blamed the slow shipping on the bad weather. Asked again if it was in fact in stock and ready to ship. Told it was in their warehouse and would be delivered on Monday. Friday came, still no updated email from them. Went online and checked order. It's now shown as back-ordered. Call on the phone this time. So sorry. We never actually had one for sale in the first place. Money still not back on card. Get a supposed Office Depot supervisor on the phone & set up a 3-way call with Visa to verify purchase was bogus & have hold removed. Get a Visa supervisor on the line ready and willing to clear the charge. The O. D. guy (who turns out to be in the Philippines) doesn't know how to find the authorization code for the charge to get it cleared. He gives me an alternate 800# to call for billing. Turns out it's the number to the Office Depot credit card department.

No printer. No refund. But, I did find time to post some reviews around the 'net. And an online complaint to the BBB.

How's your Friday goin'?

Saturday: Office MAX, on the other hand...On clearance ($95 vs. $279), In stock, In town, $5 Less than I would have paid before, Actual native speakers of the English language available to answer questions. (Is that racist?) Heading to Easton Office Max now.

Update 1/16: Being a whiny bitch pays. After posting a complaint on the BBB site, was contacted by Office Depot's Corp. Office. Received an email today with a $100 gift card. Shopping, Matilda...

Companies you hate and why...

Hostway. A web hosting company out of Chicago. Horrible customer service. They consistantly lie about ETA and that work was finished. You have to wait on hold for up to an hour and it might take 2-3 calls to get one thing they fucked up fixed.

Nike

Levi Strauss

As one who had to deal with them for a few years, I agree completely. Would not, could not ever do it again.

I bought some perishables that were due last week via FedEx. They have bounced back and forth between two states, landing at the same locations three times each. I doubt they'll ever break the endless loop and be delivered, so those stations should start to smell really good over the next few weeks.

FedEx & UPS in Aurora, CO are just plain turrrrible. I have had a new computer, pictures from Snapfish, Nomades (like Pandora) jewelry, and some other stuff either never show up or be put on a "neighbor's" porch. I say "neighbor's" because the houses were at least 10 houses down and the only number in the address that was close to mine was the first two, "23". Our addresses have five numbers in them.

I'm a Home Depot guy myself. I've had great customer service here. As for Lowes or Menards not so much.
So, not a Home Depot fan anymore. We have had a horrible experience with them that is still ongoing. Purchased a new slider and we are are having them do the install. This was roughly 5 weeks ago. It started out with them sending a person to measure that thought we were putting in a screen door. Getting it measure correctly went on for another 2.5 weeks, followed by them claiming that it took another week to get the measurements at the store. I had to call numerous times to find out what was going. During these calls, I was disconnected, left hanging, or no one responded and I had to hang up and call back. I finally went to the store manager and got a response to come in and go over the door. That was a cluster fuck in itself as the guy couldn't get it to work on the computer. Finally, after over an hour later and calling Anderson doors, he forced something on the computer. Fast forward to two weeks and additional calls to the store, the installer group (Crew 2), and the manager and the door is not yet installed. Supposedly next Monday is the day. The store manager was supposed to work to get it done faster after all the screw ups, but nothing. Crew 2 gave me all sorts of excuses, why I don't give a fuck about.

Meanwhile, every time it rains water seeps through my current door base and is now ruining my bamboo floor that I recently purchased from Home Depot and installed. Suffice it to say these guys are now at the bottom of the list moving Lowes to the top and Menards next. Lowes is the furthest from us, but I have never had any major issues with them.

Olive Garden. Got sick both times I ate there. Never again.

Taco Bell. Worst of all time fast food. When a place can't sell you food for a meat hose being out of order, you know to avoid like the plague.

Walmart. I hate Walmart's business practices. Everything wrong with retail can be summed up with one company. Walmart. Only time I go there is when the wife drags me.

Apple. I hate their corporate culture and the cult of Apple. And hate their closed veiled garden of software/hardware.
