"Community" / Parks & Recreation

I just started watching Parks and Rec on Netflix. I'm about halfway through season 2 now. It's funny, but I'm not blown away by anything yet. Not like I was when I started watching The Office.

Ron Swanson definitely has some memorable lines. I think Andy is my favorite character. I'll keep watching to see if gets better once Adam Scott and Rob Lowe join the show.

The office was epic from the start, in part because it was an established series that they remade. that kind of early momentum is rare and something only found once in awhile in great comedies (like Psych). The office also declined severely in the middle of its run but kept pulling ratings because Office.

Season 1 of Parks was just alright . It really took off in season 2 and became epic after that.

It gets a lot better with Adam Scott and Rob Lowe.

It does.

I never found Parks and Rec to be as outright funny as The Office, but I've also never seen a show that managed to be as consistently cheery and optimistic as P&R. That's part of what kept me coming back.

One thing often overlooked (on the show) were the subtle lines given to Ben (Adam Scott). Like when asked what his plans were (not knowing it was pertaining to career) and he said he was going to get a chicken parm and watch "Blade Runner".
