Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

I am always partial to defensive midfielders, but that's probably why I'm generally boring as fuck  Still I think that's a position of need. With Higuain basically being the playmaker and Anor and Ramirez playing well so far, I like the offensive midfield. Oduro might be more dangerous making runs up the sideline than up front. I think striker is a more pressing need, especially after seeing the mess they made against Toronto. I like the back 4.

I'd vote for a striker. The Crew need a credible target man up top. That's where they lost the game against TFC. Yes, they were forced wide a lot in that game and some of the crosses left something to be desired. The volume of crosses was huge though and there were plenty of good ones. There just wasn't anybody there capable of being in the right positions to make a threat out of them. Find a poor man's McBride, put him up top, and you'll win a lot of points with performances like the one this past weekend.

It's a shame Don Garber would never stand for a player like Jozy Altidore going to Columbus. You gotta figure he'll be coming to MLS before long after being busted down to the U21s at the worst club in the EPL. Gotta imagine he's already ticketed for NYCFC by the powers that be.

What if Brek Shea were to come back to the MLS? I know he'd be more of a LM/RM player, but he could potentially play inside with Trapp at CM. He could also definitely provide a spark in the scoring department.

Striker is the more desperate situation, without a doubt in my opinion. Toronto's entire gameplan was to pack it in and beat us on the counterattack with the long-ball... and we're going to see a lot more of in the future. With teams stacking the box and double-teaming Oduro on crosses, it renders him basically useless... which is what he was last Saturday. I'm with Bucklion- Oduro's likely better in a role out-wide on the right where he could better make use of his speed and make the occasional darting run over the top. Oduro needs to have the ball played in front of him where he can run onto it, not get it on the cross, which is what we spent the entirity of Saturday doing. We need a top-form striker that would better fit the mold of what Berhalter is looking for in this offense... whoever that might be. A poor man's McBride would be a tremendous asset and upgrade, given how this team is playing tactically thus far.

I guess we all needed a slap of realism to let us know we're "not quite there yet". However, despite all the positivity post-game from management about the loss, there was no excuse to play like dog shit and get shut-out by those pantywaists at home like we did, considering Defoe was out (the only person on their team who had scored a goal going into the game) and Julio Cesar wasn't 100% heading into the match.

The Crew need to throw every bit of money they can throw at Bieler while KC keeps him on the bench and not in the starting XI. That dude is too good to be sitting the bench.

I think it was a mistake not having Oduro on the pitch to start the match. KC was playing so high - at times they had all ten outfield players in the Crew's end. Having Oduro's pace up top would have kept them more honest, as the performance in the second half showed.

More than anything though I was disappointed with the defending that led to the first goal and the other first half chances. It seemed like everything that KC threatened on came from slow rolling crosses. Nothing in the air, nothing with any kind of pace or power behind it. It was amazing some of the weak stuff that just slowly rolled past everybody in a gold shirt.

Vancouver should have won 4-0. This team is absolute joke right now. 1 goal in 4 games and that goal was a PK. They really, really stink.
I thought I was lucky that I had TWC and would get to see the games. Now I wish I didn't.

This team desperately needs a striker that has the ability to score....... AND PASS. I don't care who it is, I'll take anyone at this point. I think it's also time to give Jimenez a break at RM and start Ethan Finlay. He's been pretty good when he's come on as a sub this season, so why not reward him with a start.

I thought Anor played well in the first half, so I was a bit confused as to why he came off. Maybe he got dinged up and I just missed it. I also think it's time to either end the two CM/CDM look or start Paladini with Trapp, ie something a little more attack minded.

Chicago ditched their formation and went with a 41212 tonight against NYRB and ended up with a 5-4 win. Mind you, Chicago hadn't won a game this season (0-2-6) before tonight, now they look like one of the MLS best teams. I'm not saying abandon the current formation, but something needs to be switched up.

Also, what position does Josh Williams play? They list him as RB, but I swear he's dying to be a RW. The back line can't afford him to play as a RW.
