Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

Yep, realized that now. Good sub, eh? :)

84' now.

No kidding.

Matchtracker erroneously states that the Crew need to win to advance. Even with a draw and a win by Saprissa they finish in a tie for second in Group C, and the Crew hold the tiebreaker by virtue of earning four points to Saprissa's one in head-to-head matches.

Yeah, the matchtracker guy needs to do his homework.

The ball is in the net for Columbus, but the referee has spotted a foul first.

Heavy rain and sloppy conditions in Chicago tonight, Chivas loses 1-0 on a own goal on a corner kick.

The Crew clinch their second straight Supporters' Shield, and third in six years!

Hopefully they can wrap things up on a strong note with no injuries on Sunday, and carry some momentum into the playoffs.

The last game is still a little tricky even though we have nothing to play for. You don't want to risk injuries... but you definitely don't want a 2-game losing streak and a 2-game home losing streak going into the playoffs.

But, I have faith that Polska Bob will do the right thing.

Well, the scenario is set. If we beat New England, we'll face Colorado in the playoffs. If we don't, we get Real Salt Lake. Considering the 4-1 ass-beating we took in Salt Lake, I think it'd be best if we'd win this one.

Columbus will face Real Salt Lake in the first round of the playoffs. The first leg, in Salt Lake, will likely be Saturday night on FSC.

I must say, I can't even see this team getting out of the first round. Our offense is anemic. You're not going to win a series on aggregate if you can't score goals.

Unless you're planning on buying a ticket package next year, I'd only invest in tickets to our first round game, not the 2-game pack.

Well, the good news is our boys won the Supporter's Shield in MLS, will be the only team representing the MLS in the 2nd round of the CONCACAF Champions League, have qualified for the tournament next year as well (due to winning the Shield again), and will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The bad news is this team will be entering the playoffs having lost 3 of their last 4 games and will be facing a Real Salt Lake team that is very dangerous at home. You have to take the bad with the good, though... and all things considering, I feel very good about our chances here in the playoffs. If the Crew makes it to the 2nd round, they'll face either New England or Chicago.

New England was very fortunate tonight. That penalty just outside the box was a questionable call at best and probably should not have been called.
