Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

Can someone please explain to me why the Crew have to win 2-0 on Thursday to advance? The first round is a home and home and the team who has the biggest goal diff. moves on. Well we lost 1-0 away, and if we win at home 1-0 why wouldn't it go to golden goal/shootout/etc??

Yes. If Thursday's match ends with Columbus up a goal after 90 minutes they'll go to two 15-min. extra time periods, then a shootout. But isn't it just easier to win by two goals in regulation and end the damn thing? :wink2:

thats what I thought. Aggregate goals. In the Lantern and Dispatch it made it sound like they had to win by 2 goals or they're out. My mistake. Thanks...yeah hopefully they come and play with some authority as they let down the last few games of the reg. season.

Big game tomorrow, I hope we can get the win but I'm not too enthusiastic. The first leg pretty much went as I expected. And it's going to be tough to suddenly win by 2, having not even scored one in 300+ minutes.

And a small crowd is expected as well, hopefully those in attendance (like me) can help urge the Crew to a victory.

We shall see.

According to the WaPo's Steve Goff, Schelotto and Moreno will return to the lineup, and Emmanuel Ekpo will start in the place of Robbie Rogers, who's been poor recently.

I would rather slam my balls in a car door than see Moreno start tonight, I must confess.
