Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

wow 3 on 3 hockey really opens the ice up. nice move by hitch to go conservative (2 dmen vs 2 forwards) and then get aggresive with the last 40 or so seconds. as far as regulation i have no idea, i sat down for the game and during the first intermission fell asleep until about a min left in regulation...

edit here is the ap article. interesting as hitch calls it chaotic. i didnt really see that. unstructured yes. but the cbj were conservative and defensive. some good coaching if you ask me.

The Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings are wallowing near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, both in the throes of a youth movement with barely a month left in the NHL season.
So it stood to reason that their game last night wasn?t going to be a work of art under normal circumstances.
Now take normal out of the equation. The Blue Jackets? 3-2 victory in front of 15,152 in Nationwide Arena wasn?t decided until a goal by David Vyborny ? his second of the game ? with 21.4 seconds left in an overtime spent chaotically bouncing from three-onthree to four-on-three to three-on-four play.

Bryan Berard?s season is finished. His days with the Blue Jackets likely are, too, and, quite possibly, his NHL career. Berard, 30, has been told by doctors to sit out the final 16 games of the season because his lower back ? twice repaired through surgery ? is hurting again.

Marc Methot felt as if he had just jumped into his PlayStation console.
Here he was at age 21, making his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets, staring at Nashville Predators standout Peter Forsberg a few feet away. Fewer than 24 hours earlier, he had been just another minorleague defenseman, one who grew up jabbing buttons and moving joysticks while vying with his buddies to play Forsberg on the virtual ice.

BLUE JACKETS NOTEBOOK
Resolve gets firmer during win streak

The Blue Jackets have a spring in their step and their psyche.
The positive vibe in the dressing room yesterday stems partly from a three-game winning streak the Jackets carry into their game tonight against Dallas. But beyond that obvious plus is an even more important recent development: The club has begun to toughen up mentally, to be able to weather lulls and rebound.

Every once in a while I'll head down to Nationwide and see a game and tonight was one of those times. To sum it up, the jackets got beat by a better team. It's hard to put into words the way it happened, but it just seems like the stars knew what they were doing and the jackets didn't.......... Dallas made the right passes at the right times, Cbus didn't, Dallas controlled the puck and made the game a lot more basic and simple than the jackets did. The jackets have hope, they have talent, it's just a matter of time. When is the question.

The Blue Jackets finally caught up to their expansion brethren, the Minnesota Wild ? not in the NHL standings but in the NHL record book. A 3-0 loss to the Dallas Stars last night in Nationwide Arena marked the 14 th time this season the Blue Jackets have failed to score in a game.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? They used to bring fly swatters to Gaylord Entertainment Center whenever the Blue Jackets were in town to play the Nashville Predators. NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? Blue Jackets defenseman Anders Eriksson was stiff and sore last night after a 2-1 loss to the Nashville Predators.
But his back injury doesn?t appear to be long term.
"Hopefully, I?ll be OK in a couple of days," Eriksson said. Eriksson was checked hard into the boards by Predators forward Darcy Hordichuk on his third shift of the game.

LOS ANGELES ? As the 2006-07 season makes its way to a merciful finish, Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock continues to take stock of the talent at his disposal. The 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night in the Staples Center showed the Blue Jackets still have a ways to go before they are the relentless, full-bore squad Hitchcock envisions.
