like either one of the briere/drury (which ever one doesnt resign with the sabres)

weve seen it here in columbus a lot, they bring in the second level center and it doesnt work. (sillingers, cassels, hrdina etc) i dont care what anyone says i have a hard time questioning rick nash's speed, size, skill, shot, passing ability etc. i just wish he could/would play with a top flight centre.

is that what you mean or something else? or just in general get some of the 'pressure' of the 22 year old?

either or....

Think of it this way, Steve Yzerman struggled until they started putting good experienced players around him.

Nash has had to lead from the front and that's kind of a hard thing to do when you are still learning how to win games.

he can do it, but he needs help.

DALLAS — It’s a safe bet that most of the Blue Jackets can’t stand coach Ken Hitchcock these days. On Wednesday, he put them through one of the most physical practices in club history outside of training camp. Herb Brooks would have been proud.

Hitchcock holds shootout tryouts during practice

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

DALLAS ? Near the end of practice yesterday, the Blue Jackets had an intrasquad shootout.
In part, it was done for the sake of levity after two hard days of practice. But there was another purpose. "We?re having tryouts," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We?ve lost the last couple of shootouts without scoring a goal in them, so we?re having tryouts. We?ll have some more of them, too. It?s fun for the guys."

DALLAS ? It would have been easy for the Blue Jackets to fold last night. They have, many times before, under far lesser circumstances. Captain Adam Foote, part of their top defensive pair with Rostislav Klesla, left the game with the Dallas Stars last night only 1:34 into the game with a severe high-ankle sprain.

GLENDALE, Ariz.? After scoring two goals last night in the Blue Jackets? 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes, left winger Rick Nash described his scoring touch as "almost back to normal." For the Blue Jackets, that?s cause for celebration. For the rest of the NHL, it?s a scary thought.

from an oilers view btu same thing on some of the top guys out there

POSSIBLE OILERS WISH LIST
Here's who the Oilers should target in free agency, bearing in mind they have at least $5.4 million to spend if they don't give it to Smyth.

1. Danny Briere. He lifts people out of their seats.

2. Kimmo Timonen. Puck-moving defenceman who can play against other team's best players.

3. Drury. Captain in Buffalo, most versatile free agent forward.

4. Chris Phillips. Ottawa's shut-down defenceman. He's also from Fort McMurray.

5. Ray Whitney. See if the Carolina winger wants to come home.

6. Scott Hartnell. The owners in Lloydminster would love this kid.

7. Sami Salo. One of the five hardest-shooting defencemen in league.

Here's who they should target in a trade: Florida captain Olli Jokinen, who has three years and $16 million left on his contract. He was Mike Keenan's guy but is he Florida coach/GM Jacques Martin's?

PHOENIX ? It might have been the worst goal a Blue Jackets goaltender has allowed this season. At 1:41 of the second period Saturday, Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Keith Ballard snapped off a wrist shot just as he came across the blue line. Ballard, it seemed, was looking for a rebound.

Manning must be his team?s best player from start to finish. He can have a bad game or two, but if he fails to show up until week 10, the Indianapolis Colts are the Dolts.
