3rd man in? they call that anymore, apparently not...

It really depends on what happens once that guy gets there.

If the gloves are dropped, 3rd man in should get called.

If it's just a scrum, unless something like roughing or a slash or something occurs, they just break it up and play on.

but as you've certainly noticed, every ref calls things differently.

I feel tha tcarter was worth more than just a 5th round pick.

Iit would have been nice to get more for him; however, it was a buyers market. Everyone knew that the Blue Jackets wanted to unload him. Carolina is only getting him for 21 regular season games and the playoffs; and he is a free agent (again) after this year. The Blue Jackets also unloaded the remainder of his one year $2.5 M salary which would be arround $640K. Besides the Blue Jackets didn't give up anything to get him (except the money); since they signed him as a free agent.

I was at the game last night and it was a great one. I agree with CrabMan, the efforts of the Blue Jackets really looked futile until after Shelley's fight. There were somewhere between 3 and 4 fans of the Jackets there, and the Rangers fans were PISSED. It was pretty funny. . .
