Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Unreal.

Sole possession of the 8 spot right now heading into LA tonight. Tough road trip. Have to be honest I can't wait to see this team playing in the east. The road schedule has been brutal with these west coast swings.

Playoffs or no I am pumped about this team next season. Gaborik coming back and Ryan Murray getting inserted into the line up can only help. That and some first rounders (or a trade up into the top 3???) should have this team poised for a bright future.

I said a couple days back....we NEED to win these first three games to make the playoffs. That way we keep the teams above us at least somewhat stagnant on points, and we keep moving up. I figure we could afford to lose on of the last two games if we do this.

I don't know how many of you stayed up to watch the game last night, but you could definitely see the fatigue setting in with the legs. There were a few good spurts where I felt like the Jackets were getting after the Kings pretty aggressively, but they looked tired and sloppy for the majority of the first two periods. Doesn't help to be missing two starting D-men at this stage either of course.

At this point, if they lose to Dallas, they're done. If they beat Dallas and Nashville, they've got a solid shot. If they get a point (or two) in San Jose and beat Dallas & Nashville, I'll say they're in. Tough sledding, but no one predicted them to win the last five either. Dallas is average at home, Nashville is a dumpster fire, Bob's hot and I like our odds.

ROW or no ROW, if we lose to Dallas on Thursday, it's over.

If we win vs. Dallas and get 3-4 points from the other 2 games, I think we're in. If we lose tonight, it's not over...just not looking great.

Definitely worth noting that head-to-head, we owned Detroit 4-0 this season. I'm not too worried about Dallas H2H because I think whoever wins that game takes the other 8 slot contender out of the race regardless.

@ysubuck...I couldn't agree more. Carter likes the wiener, but LA needs to win that.

Just to be accurate, the CBJ were 4-1 against Detroit this season.

I don't think Dallas is that good. Detroit is so wildly inconsistent I don't know if they have it in them either. Weird season.

Thanks for the correction...but yeah, you're right. Super weird season. I know it's always nice to say "what if"...but could you imagine if we played the first half of the season anywhere near how we played the second half?

Here's to a solid W tonight for the good guys and a Kings win.
