I won't deny that rubs some elements of our society the wrong way. With regards to recruits though, I would assume that a majority of them are black, so I'm having a hard time seeing how he's alienating them in that regard. I think Deion's failure is much more a function of that program turning into a fucking circus, his willingness to throw players under the bus and the shortcomings of a largely irrelevant football history.

I wasn't insinuating comments like that hurt his recruiting. It's unnecessary obnoxious comments like that that make the media overinflate his impact as a coach and recruiter while acting like he's a revolutionary. And yes, unnecessarily bringing race into conversations in an antagonistic manner like that are a pet peeve of mine. He deflects valid criticisms of his arrogant attitude and questionable roster management as people simply having a racial bias, conveniently ignoring media pariahs like Lane Kiffin back in the day also being heavily scrutinized for their brazen comments
