collegefootballnews.com unit rankings released

Easy, they got smoked again by their biggest rival who happened to be the best team in the country again.
Who had Boston College #1?

Seriously, I know you are stupid but do you honestly believe thats the only reason they fired TW? Do you think the 5-7 and 6-6 records the past 2 years had a bit to do with it? Or are you living in some alternative universe where ND is still a power but just can't seem to get over the hump against USC?

Countdown to "OSU sucked last year", "SOS" and "duh" as a response deliverd in a one sentence or less come back that has nothing to do with anything previously discussed..10...9...8...7...6.......

First off did I say that USC was the only reason? NO ! But most are convinced if ND had been able to make a game of it this last seasonagainst USC Ty would have been given another year.

OK , so after geting reamed over talking smack which was not my intent! I just didnt agree with the running back rankings. How about this question for those familiar with Darius Walker. If Walker were at OSU where do you think he would be on the rb depth chart? No smack just a simple question.

He would probably be in the fight for PT early, but after a couple games would be 4th.

I don't know him well enough to answer, all I know is that your running game was worse than ours. The stats are staring you in the face.

Walker's good games:
UM 31-115-2
Pitt 15-112-2

Walkers bad games (I thought he was incredible):
Purdue 19-50-0
Navy 9-26-0
BC 8-35-1
USC 11-54-0
OSU 13-43-1

Untill I see Mo Wells in college action I would say darius walker would be a 1-2 punch with pittman in all honesty. I've seen enough to know he's good but not enough to say he's head and shoulders over pittman. As you alluded to we've never seen piitman get a chance to be "the" man. Who's to say he wouldn't blossom under those circumstances and break out? He did play in 11 games and get nearly 100 carries, its not like his 5.3 ypc was based on a small sample size and contrary to what you may think he did not play a strictly mop up role. In-season injuries kept him from taking the job outright from Ross and Hall imo.

I think you lost sight of the fact it was a unit ranking and not just 1 individual RB. Even if you give it to walker as being the best of the bunch I'd still take a Piitman/Haw/Mo Wells unit over ND's unit.

It's an opinion but its based on a lot of facts.

In all fairness, OSU's running sucked last year. Even in the second half of the season, most of the offense came from the QB position, one way or another. If you take Troy Smith's rushing stat's out of the equation, how good was the OSU rushing attack? The fact that Ross led the team with what, 800 yards(?) is pathetic. However, ND WAS worse. If you want to say OSU has and could struggle rushing the ball, you would be correct. Yeah, Ross and Hall are gone, and yeah, Pittman COULD be great...so COULD Haw and so COULD Mo Wells. But NONE of them have proven anything.

But if you're trying to compare ND's rushing O to OSU's rushing O, the domers are gonna lose that battle.

We are comparing RB's and running back number to running back numbers ND wins that battle...

Not to metion the fact that OSU's leading rusher is gone and ND's returns.
Your leading runner was solid at best, definitely not impressive. Troy Smith is sure to get a ton of rushing yardage, and last time I checked ND doesn't have Ted Ginn to lineup at RB. OSU's OL trumps ND's too. So your 4 ypc RB (vs our 5 ypc RB) running behind a weaker OL without great QB & Ath running possibilities... is why you are better than us?
