Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

View attachment 55154

Bill at the UNC collective when he’s hired, and a bunch of restaurant GMs, attorneys, car dealership Owners, and physicians telling him what players he should go after. And then telling him what kind of defense he should run.
The good new is “we’re on to Cincinnati” works in college too

For anyone that loves the coaching carousel, make sure to follow www.footballscoop.com - by far the best site out there with daily updates.

Not sure where Purdue goes, but Jeff Monken makes so much sense to me. Purdue will never be a destination job, so be unique and tough to prepare for with an option offense.
Worked at Georgia Tech for a long time under Paul Johnson...somewhat surprised more underdog-type places haven't tried that.

I'd love to see it! Monken was a key piece of the staff over most of his career. Between him and Bohannon, their gutting of our support staff was just too much for the old coach to recover from. It's been a rough recovery from those days, but I think much of that can be attributed to a poor coaching hire in Collins.

I always thought the spread option would be a dangerous formula for a playoff team. The teams that consistently maintained discipline on the line enough to beat it usually spent weeks dedicated to practicing for it and most often scheduled an academy team or GA Southern early in the season to practice. In a playoff, most of the opponents would likely have much less time to prepare.

There would be PWO offers to HS QB who ran the triple option/flexbone. You're 100% right that nobody can duplicate that look in scout.

Also, when Collins came out in their spring game and started in flexbone and motioned to spread that was bullshit. Zero respect for that. Paul Johnson is a legend.

Also posted Barry Odom to Purdue in their thread.

1. I keep hearing Charlotte is a well thought of job, but I just don't see it. I get Albin wanting to leave the MAC, think he could have gotten a better position, but he's no doubt earned this. Ohio U had only two 10 win seasons in their history before he showed up and then he just rattled off 3 in a row....absolute STUD.

2. Odom to Purdue would be an A hire for them. His track record on the defensive side of the ball is impressive, but if he has a year or two with a modicum of success he is running out of there to the next spot.

3. Tony Gibson, DC at NC State, is headed to Marshall. He's a WV native. Charles Huff, who I'm sure has a helluva story about the handling of him at Marshall, is headed to Southern Miss.

4. Dowell Loggains leaving South Carolina to be App State's next coach...hadn't heard him mentioned much for that.

5. Scott Frost back to his national championship UCF squad.

Tulsa kicked Kevin Wilson to the side and went with a bold hire, Tre Lamb. He's 35 and is the second youngest head coach in FBS, only older than Kenny Dillingham.
Wilson's days were numbered when he decided to play the surly old man role and not embrace NIL. If you're not going to utilize NIL, you better bring in enough talent to win without it, and that's virtually impossible. ANd even harder at a place like Tulsa
