Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Why does Holgorsen want that job so bad? Does he think he is going to get shitcanned by WVU next year? I guess Houston has a good recruiting ground in a weaker conference

that would be a step down? why would Holgerson do that unless he’s gonna be fired?
There's been rumored strife between wvu and Holgorsen for years. IIRC, his buyout made it almost impossible to fire him, and he hasn't been a hot commodity. Now that there's an opening with mutual interest, it coule be an out for both of them.

I think Miami's permanently done in terms of national relevance. In this era, and for the foreseeable future, it will be a really tough row to hoe if you're not a large state school with a large built-in alumni and fan base. The only true exception is USC, which has twice the enrollment of Miami, pretty strong academics, a long-term blue blood tradition and a large, well-established and wealthy alumni and fan base. Stanford, ND, Northwestern, and maybe Georgia Tech. are semi-exceptions, but all of those schools can use their much stronger academic prestige to recruit to an over achieving type (and NU gets piles of BIG $) and the ceiling for all of them is at least one-notch below true national title contender status. On top of that, UCF, which has huge enrollment, an ideal recruiting location, and a rapidly growing alumni-fan base has already largely supplanted Miami, and if UF and FSU can't use their political muscle to keep UCF out of either the SEC or ACC, they'll be a legitimate juggernaut (if they aren't already) sooner rather than later.

His failure at tsun aside, Rich Rod was the most accomplished coach they had at WVU since Don Nehlen and was an alum but he had issues with the admin as well iirc.

Must be something in the moonshine.

uhm... yes please

Would be a very interesting hire, but the fan base would run him off too in 3-4yrs if he doesn't get them an ACC title(Clemson has an absolute death grip on the ACC and won't concede it until Dabo leaves) at the least. And Leach ain't much a big game coach, he'll pull a double digit win season out of his arse(he has only 2) every so often, but Miami fans are essentially just like scUM fans, they are living in the past. If I were Leach I'd enjoy Pullman and not want the unrealistic pressure of having to be Da U, and slob over fans who think that its still the days of when their 30 for 30 docs were made.

Leach does like to spend a lot of time in Key West though.
