Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

This quote says TONS on where Louisville fans are at...

Louisville’s search could next turn toward Appalachian State coach Scott Satterfield, a proven winner with a 50-24 record at the school, but he would be viewed by Louisville fans as a significant step down after pinning their hopes on landing Brohm.

Guess what Satterfield is doing right now? Getting his team ready to play a conference championship game....

I would love for salt to be in the wound and have Petrino on the SECEspIN's Coaches' Film Room during the Natty.

Reports: Dana Holgorsen wanted Red Raiders job, but Texas Tech athletic director declined to interview him

This won’t go over well in Morgantown. At all.

Four days after Kliff Kingsbury was fired at Texas Tech, Utah State’s Matt Wells appears set to take over the reins of the Big 12 program. However, multiple media outlets are reporting that West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen was very interested in the opening.

The only problem (other than a Mountaineer fan base that’s even further pissed off about their head coach)? Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt declined to interview him.

Ouch.

Kliff Kingsbury set to take over as USC’s offensive coordinator?

With his phone reportedly ringing off the hook ever since Texas Tech fired him, Kliff Kingsbury appears set to remain at the collegiate level instead of plowing new ground in the NFL.

According to multiple media outlets, Kingsbury is on the verge of being named as the offensive coordinator at USC. In fact, 247Sports.com reports that Kingsbury, who had been heavily pursued by the Trojans for the last couple of days, has agreed in principle to take the job.

Screw Tech. They screwed over Leech for Craig James' and his son. Obvious why they didn't want to interview the guy.
If I was anywhere near Mike Leech's staff, I'd stay out of the state of Texas, unless putting up tons of points on em.

Kansas: Quick update in response to a number of questions… Given that Les signed his term sheet on the 16th and it was announced on the 18th; one would think a number of hires would be imminent. We understand Les Miles has had very preliminary discussions with a healthy number of former assistants; but sources tell us Les is being very deliberate (i.e. not getting the responses he thought he might get from potential first choices) in the vetting process. We hear his agent George Bass is now involved, performing a good amount of diligence on potential hires. Sources tell us money is available; but thus far Les hasn’t found the right matches. Stay tuned…

Interesting that Les' first choices are reportedly turning him down for a "gig "at Kansas.

Kansas is a dead end. Their roster is trash and will take 2-3 recruiting cycles to be anywhere near competitive. Add in that Les will turn 66 during the season next year, wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire with top-10 recruiting classes in Baton Rouge, the fact that you have to live in Lawrence, KS and it can’t be the most exciting employment opportunity.

In 119 years of playing football, KU has been to 12 bowls and finished the year ranked just 7 times. They haven’t strung together 3 straight winning seasons since 1960-62. They’ve made back-to-back bowls once in their history (2007-08]. They’ve won < 20% of their games this decade, and haven’t lost less than 9 games since 2009. It is, quite likely, the worst power-5 job in the country.

Kansas doesn’t need a retirement-age retread; it needs to find its Bill Snyder. Everything I said above applied to Kansas State 30 years ago, and they found a young coach that would make them a powerhouse by the mid-nineties and have them remain, at least, respectable his entire 25+ year tenure.
