Coach Chad Morris (Clemson OC)

grad:

I know you've written about how you attribute this year's change at Clemson to Chad, but I have to ask: is his offensive knowledge and scheme something that can be analogous to a rookie QB in the NFL? What mean by that is is there the chance that the success is simply based on being something new, but once figured out, it's success is mitigated?

It hasn't been consistently stopped yet though. Clemson had injuries in the backfield and up front that changed their scheme for a few games. Tajh Boyd started hearing some footsteps and went Mark Wohlers for a week or two.

Morris wants 90 offensive plays per game...he is attacking all areas of the field while limiting subs, testing conditioning, and limiting defensive checks. His running package is the part that is overlooked...he will motion you to death, run a few edge fraying jet sweeps while living on the inside zone/read option, and then countering back on you. Throw in some power/iso and you are in defensive hell.

I like the sound of that! All while under Urban Meyer's direction? SIGN ME UP!

The guy could become legendary if he goes from taking Clemson from being ranked in the 80's to being ranked in the 20's in total offense, and then comes and takes Ohio State from the 100's (? I'm afraid to look. :() to, well, anywhere.

I mean, talk about a no-fail no-brainer. No matter what this guy does, he'll look like a genius.

Not to get all crazy after the season we've had, but I don't think it's impossible to hope/believe that an Meyer-Morris offense with Braxton taking snaps could be among the best in the country next year.

Especially on the coaching staff Urban is assembling. Fail proof, almost.

Love what Morris has done at Clemson. A few questions though: What position does he coach? How is he as a recruiter? And finally, would this effectively end the Studrawa talk? Seems like he wouldn't go from OC at LSU to just coaching the line here. And I further assume we wouldn't make him C0-OC if we offer Morris 1.5 mil.

QBs. He is 3 years in on the college game so he is an average recruiter...but his system is an excellent recruiter.

Studrawa is going to be a tough pull from LSU regardless of Morris.

Morris will be a tough pull from Clemson if they ante up also.

Is this even a realistic possibility at this point for Clemson? Doing so would also mean a pretty hefty raise for Dabo as well, correct? Is Clemson in a position to lay out the big bucks for a HC AND an OC?
