I don't what all the fuss is about. I haven't noticed a bit of difference with the new and improved DiHard.

Conley was very good at picking talent, but also very good as missing things like qualifying academically. Tressel's recruits have not been angels, but Tressel knows as much as he can about them before they are offered. He knows that ultimately it is his head on the chopping block.

I think Conley probably still misses his position. He also has some valuable insight to share and controversial stuff always get more attention than the boring crap.

I don't think Conley was fired as much as he left when the handwriting was on the wall. My guess is that he missed the lack of freedom he enjoyed under Cooper. Instead of being able to offer on the spot with Cooper, JT needed to give the final okay. You know what, that is what your boss says and you do it or check the Sunday want ads.

Can a newbie and current member of both BN and BP posit a theory and ask a question.

My theory is that as certain websites become bigger and more influential, they become more averse to critiicsm of the program. I would guess that the University gives them certain privileges and there is a tacit understanding that criticism will be kept down. I was a regular poster on the O-Zone for several years and saw that site deteriorate. I saw several regular posters raise good questions and get slammed by some of the formal or informal "brass". I made a few diplomatic entreaties to allow vigorous (provided that it was fair and civil) discourse, and got no response. So I left.

I sense something of the same has happened at BN. I really miss all of you former regulars (too many to detail). I stay a member because there is some good discussion, but I have reluctantly come over here. I say reluctant because I would prefer to be registered on only one site.

My question is: what happened to all of you? I was not aware of all these conflicts.

BTW, I also lurk and post on BN, but it's clearly because I am such a nice guy and never offend anyone that I can freely surf between the two sites ...:bicker:

way off topic but you asked so....

too long of a story to tell, but basically many of the more long time posters over there got banned for one reason or another. i can't speak for anyone else but i can tell my story.

i was banned in 2002. one day they decided to pull a link to my site and ban me from their boards. i found out and called them cum chuggers or something like that. i never broke any rules on their site and never imagined that their rules applied to my site. anyways they had issues with me and made me disappear.

most of my issues were with duane and his supposed expertise with regard to judging talent that his fat ass has never seen in person. fyi: duane dwarfs matt zahn and is rarely able to leave his house without the assistance of rikki lake or the like. i doubt he has been to a HS football game this decade.

anyways duane decided (or was told by what passes for the powers that be over there) that he wouldn't post on the free board any longer. being a big HS fan i decided to answer questions posed to duane when i could provide some input.

then a bunch of posters wondered why duane could post on the pay board but not the free board.

BN's story was that his computer couldn't log into the free board but could the pay board. some proposed that he PM or email them the info so that they could post his answers for him, no answer. many of us troubleshot his problems with logging in for him (which was the only case in all of EZBoards suspicously) and none of our help could help. even asswipe-supreme riptide (a supposed computer expert) couldn't get duane logged on (some expert, no wonder he was unemployed so long). basically it came down to them not wanting to just say that duane wouldn't post for free anymore. they just wanted to lie about it and have it go away quietly.

personally i never had any respect for duane's insight but i liked fucking with their business so i pressed the issue. eventually they grew tired and banned me. when the discussion of my banning came up they said it was because i called them cum chuggers or whatnot. i then showed by the times of the postings that i called them that after the banning but they won their debate because they controlled their site and now my voice was a thing of the past.

that is what happened with me. i know clarity and mili and tibor and many others are banned from sucknuts now but i can't tell their stories.
i am still banned from the site but they aren't really good with computers so i can still post over there if i desire to. i have an active account and i don't fear the legal reprucussions of riptide at all.

I like Bucknuts and I'm a member, but the Planet is better. The recuit info is much better (ie Taz, Helpinghand, etc). I like all the posters here better too. If you guys want some info on the chat, let me know. Nothing really ground breaking, but a decent read.

One guy that posts over on BN that I really like is Kern. Is he over here?

I could go to BN if I wanted to, but haven't been for months... there isn't anything there that I can't get here and the discussion is much more stimulating here. I don't know all about the "history" as it were, but from all I heard the "elitists" aren't over here. BN used to be a good place for indepth info, but now that I read that most of that stuff was based on posters from this board... well, you see what I'm saying.

What ever happened to Ramzy? He used to put up some good articles. Kind of Tom Orr-ish.
