Yeah but a 6.6 in the 19th largest media market is less than 100k viewers, where the Yankees may only pull like a 3.5 and still get 250k+.

Correct - but that's not my argument, which may have not been clear.

My argument is they make 47M a year now based on their TV deal that gets put up again after the 2022 season. I've seen the deal is anywhere from 40-47M, and while most say it's up after 2022 I've seen some claim there is actually a 5 year option of some kind. The deal was widely said to be undervalued at the time of the signing, and since then the ratings have only gone up. There are no great recent comparisons, but there were some teams in 2016 that signed around 60-65M that were likely the best comparisons (Dbacks).

If the contract does come up after 2022, I don't think it's a stretch to say 65M is a modest guess, and I would not be shocked to see them get something along the lines of 10Y/700M. It appears teams typically have to split those revenues, but even still - between that increase, MLB's deal increase, you are talking a minimum of 30M per year more solely from TV deals. I think that very quickly makes up for whatever loss they claim from this year, which has been mitigated to some extent by teams including the Indians.

Padres burying the lede here lol

Mike Clevinger signed a 2 year / $11,500,000 contract with the San Diego Padres, including $11,500,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $5,750,000. In 2021, Clevinger will earn a base salary of $2,000,000 and a signing bonus of $3,000,000, while carrying a total salary of $3,500,000.

It would not, however, provide the Padres with any additional club control over Clevinger, who is currently on track to reach free agency after the 2022 campaign.

Just sayin': Nice guaranteed income until he hits free agency after the 2022 season.

DeShields, Naquin and Jefry Rodriguez were all non-tendered.
Hey, i got one right!

I would guess Naquin, DeShields and Zimmer are all non-tender candidates (not all of them, I just think its time to move on with one or two). I mean, really, Luplow probably keeps his platoon job, then Naylor in left and after that, who the fuck knows? I can't see them doing Naylor in Left and Reyes in Right (if they keep asking him to work on that) I mean, that's not optimal. So, who haven't we mentioned yet who sucks in the OF? Mercado, Daniel Johnson... I have a headache... at some point they're gonna have to say enough is enough....

Eh, I think you're going to be mostly spared that indignity.

My guess is, if you look at the alternate site 60, the only real differences will be what they get back for Lindor (and anyone else they trade, for example if they move Carrasco)

OR

It shapes up like there's going to be a mostly normal minor league season, if it looks like last year to start, and anyone not on the 60 is doing nothing, I think they're not going to want to get guys to take up spots for a crap rental.

I know I'm gonna get yelled at again but, they're not going to do much to add anyone with the revenues as they are and the CBA expiring in December ('21)

Obviously everyone signs a Trash Reliever every year...

Diddy here.

Was wondering what return we should expect for Lindor.

It appears our leverage isn't strong and we should expect something smaller then Bosox got for Mookie.
Though they dumped Price' salary.

I want a major league above WAR OF. That we didn't procure on for Kluber, Bauer, and Clev is absurd (though I like Naylor).

Seems like there is a decent market for Frankie despite some good FA options at SS.

What I'm asking is for you to submit the team you think he gets dealt to and the prize piece(s) we get in return.
For example:
Cinci - Senzel
Yanks - Frazier
Jays - the OF whose name I forget
Dodgers - Lux

I have confidence in the Front office and was surprised Dude didn't leave for Mets.
This isn't like Kevin Warren in in charge.

Bonus question - why does Dolan even want to own the club. He could sell right now and pocket over $500MM from his purchase price. Everyone hates him. Why does he want to own the club.
