Cleveland Indians Thread of Malaise (2014 Season)

2 1/2 back of the WC....I read somewhere that going into September last year the Tribe was something like 4 games out.

Still, just feels like a different vibe with this team....and not in a good way.

Also, Brantley...has to be close to Top 5 AL MVP, no?

Oh, their vibe was pretty ass in the tub shitty this time last year too. I think they lost 5 in a row a few times last year in August, it was just brutal.

Having said all that... on the upside... I don't think you can expect a repeat of September that we had last year.... (I still don't beleive those assholes pulled it off anyway)

There are similarities.

Kluber is being Ubaldo-esque. Masterson's not starting really, our intended starter is someone else, whose doing pretty well... some younger pitchers are showing signs of not sucking occasionally and the back of the bullpen is probably better (Axford in his demotion is scary but effective, etc)

The offense sucks a dick right now, and a couple guys whove done nothing (take your pick) are gonna have to step up. Michael Bourn is at least well rested. (and that's less David Murphy and Ryan Raburn you have to see). Maybe the subtraction of Cabrera will get us some more risk taking on the bases.

And the schedule is pretty soft down the stretch, not as soft as last year maybe but, there are some teams to punish.

Yeah, honestly, the AL is pretty bad this year. Look at who they're chasing...Toronto, the Jankees, Seattle, and Kansas City. As inconsistent (or consistently mediocre) as they've been this year, 85-86 wins might buy you that 2nd WC spot. If one or two bats get hot, and we start getting some better starting pitching from somebody like Salazar and/or Bauer in September, they could bumble there way in again.

On a side note, Lindor is struggling in AAA so far (.224/.286/.345), after a decent start. I was hoping to see him soon with Assdribble gone.

The Bullpen is as solid as it gets, the highest ERA of anyone in the bullpen right now is Carrassco with a 3.69 but since the trainwreck of April he has logged a 1.93 ERA in 37 1/3 innings of relief

Crockett has been a nice find and even Hagadone hasent looked like a total disaster this year yet

if the SP besides Kluber can marginally pull their heads out of their ass they have a shot

Tomlin, as mediocre as it gets, draws Cueto tonight...that ought to go as well as Screech trying to beat up Brock Lesnar to steal Sable away.
