Cleveland Indians Thread of Malaise (2014 Season)

Jesus, McAllister is turrble this year.

He's a one pitch tosser....mostly only able to get his fastball over the plate. He threw his fastball for 71% of his pitches last night, plus his cutter for another 10%, with only 2 swings and misses. He's fooling nobody.

Does not take even a poor hitting team long to time up his heater and ignore anything else. I wonder if he's got elbow issues? Breaking balls put more stress on the elbow and many times guys with elbow injuries will try to pitch around the problem.

Anybody else surprised that Chisenhall has turned back into a pumpkin since the All-Star break? .209/.313/.256, 1 hr, 5 rbi in July, and his homerun and 2 of those rbi were on July 1st.

Fan At Indians Game Upset To Find Someone Else In His Section
SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEFSportsBaseballISSUE 50•30 • Aug 1, 2014

CLEVELAND—Having made his way up the series of ramps to Progressive Field’s upper deck, 32-year-old Cleveland Indians fan Bradley Hunt’s excitement for the upcoming game against the Texas Rangers quickly shifted to frustration after finding another person sitting in his section, sources confirmed Friday. “Oh, come on, what is this guy doing here?” Hunt said in reference to the lone man in the sea of empty rows overlooking right field, noting that there were plenty of other unoccupied upper deck sections nearby where one could sit and watch the game alone from an equally good vantage point. “It’s so annoying to climb all the way up here expecting to grab my section, only to find some random guy took it. I mean, I paid $14 for this. It’s ridiculous.” At press time, having failed to sort the situation out diplomatically, an irate Hunt was searching for the stadium’s lone usher to escort the man out.

Virtually all players with hot starts regress to their mean. You didn't really think that Chis turned into a .330+, 40 HR hitter over the winter, did you?

Certainly not, but I was holding out hope he was at least becoming a competent, or even *GASP* an above average ML player. No homeruns and three RBIs in the last calendar month indicates he's probably just the same turd he always was who happened to get hot for a couple of months.

McAllister gets DFAd, down to exactly five starters on the entire 40-man.

Holt called up, nailed to the bench. Jose Ramirez was fun to watch last night, rewarded with a night off. Because Murphy, Raburn and Aviles need their at-bats, dammit.

In other Tribe news, obviously in need of another warm body, the Indians signed 27 year old infielder Jamie Pedroza, who was released on July 13th by the White Sox' AA team. Pedroza was previously released by the Dodgers and Braves organizations.
