Great for him to win it, I think he deserved over Ferrell, though I will readily acknowledge he also cleaned up a clown show, albeit with a better payroll and better FA signings. Was a great season, one I will always remember and consider a success, despite all the ups and downs and the crappy closer and all the wasted money on useless crotchrot like Reynolds and Myers.

Tribe Alumni/Central Division News:

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times confirms multiple reports out of Venezuela that the Tigers have hired Omar Vizquel as their first base coach (Twitter link). Vizquel, 46, spent 2013 as a roving infield instructor with the Angels and last played in the bigs with Toronto in 2012. The owner of 11 Gold Gloves, Vizquel is widely regarded as one of the best defensive shortstops of all time. It's tough to imagine the Tigers finding a better mentor for Rookie of the Year runner-up Jose Iglesias.

Tribe signs free agent OF David Murphy......(yawn) and, most likely, will trade or DFA Drew Stubbs in the next few days. Murphy will apparently platoon with Raburn in RF. That also means that Swisher will be mostly at 1B or DH? Except for injury or, maybe, getting a backup catcher or a trade of Cabrerra, the team's position player roster is set for 2014.

Doubt they do anything with catcher - Gomes and Santana will split with Gomes getting a majority of it. Tribe has good depth in minors too at C.

I still expect some trades but nothing else FA wise with position players so agree with ya there Zipper. Hopefully we can trade Stubbs for something although he served his purpose this year with his speed.

Tribe went after LaTroy Hawkins so seems like they're willing to pay a moderate amount for a closer; would rather see that $ go to a 5th starter though. Get Kazmir back and I like Masterson/Salazar/Kazmir/Kluber/McCallister going into the year.
