When haven't the Indians hitters been overmatched? We threw the ball well, but we were overmatched by their pitchers,? said Tribe manager Manny Acta.
When haven't the Indians hitters been overmatched? We knew going in it was going to be tough,? said Acta. ?He (Anderson) is a left-hander with a good breaking ball.?

Also, Roberto (Carmona) Hernandez sprained his ankle or something.

I did not follow the Nationals when he managed there and I know that they have significantly upgraded their pitching since he left but they have also come a long way since he left. Just wondering about his managerial style and if it brings out the best in his players.NFBuck;2201176; said:Manager speak. He's a dead man walking, and he knows it. I don't fault Acta. Sure, he's made some questionable calls in his time here. Every manager does. But, he's been saddled with a roster embarrassingly devoid of talent, and management whose idea of improving it is trading for a spiraling former ace, and signing Casey Krotchrot. We have one of the two or three worst front offices/ownership in baseball. Maybe all of pro sports, IMO. He never had a chance...

I actually follow the Indians pretty closely in the media and I have never seen any of those types of comments. He seems more like a company man to me. He's said this rather bluntly at times to the media. Really, outside of Guillen, and at times Leyland, it's probably the most I've seen a manager directly question a roster.
i'd say it's a deliberate attempt to either force the front office to own up, or to grease the skids for his departure. but, he doesn't sound clueless as much as he simply sounds defeated by having to trot out the lineup he does every day, knowing that this collection of guys is what the front office believed was a "contender".

Thanks for the link. I am actually surprised that the quote did not get more press because it might get him fired.tsteele316;2201208; said:http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1300955-mlb-cleveland-indians-manager-calls-out-ownership
I know the link says bleacherreport, but it actually links the cleveland plain dealer article on 8/15 where the quote originated. it's pretty brazen and to the point, and it's been talked about fairly often. surprised you missed it.

This is what scares the bejeesus out of me. The clowns in the FO actually thought this team had what it took to be a contender. They really thought signing Casey Krotchrot, Derek Lowe, was enough. They really thought that Ubald-O wasn't a total disaster. They really thought Glass Joe would actually make it out of the dugout. They really thought that what's left of Hafner would return to form five years later. This franchise is run by baboons.tsteele316;2201182; said:if anyone has actually been paying attention, acta has actually made it known that cleveland has been lacking in talent in LF, 1B, 3B, and in the starting rotation. tsteele316;2201243; said:the quote actually got a ton of run right when it happened. cleveland's total collapse and packing in of the season 2 months early is what will get acta fired. what he's doing is making it known that he spent the better part of the first half of the season spraying potpourri on that pile of shit to mask the stink.
I get the feeling Acta was sold a bill of goods when he took this job that the FO never paid up on...rich farm system (lol), willing to spend to fix issues, etc...and the frustration started to boil over this summer when he realized it was a load of crap.Zippercat;2201417; said:I believe Acta first made those comments on MLB radio (XM) to Jim Bowden, his former GM at the Nationals. I think the guys on MLB radio were shocked to hear how frank he was too. Sadly, every word of it is the truth.
