Cleveland Indians 2015 Thread of Barely Restrained Contempt (BALLS)

Right now the relief pitching and defense are not good enough to take this team seriously over the long haul. And how many months is Kippy going to have 50 hits and 30 runs? This is still a 70-75 win team.

Well, that's about the long and short of it, maybe a little pessimistic. The Bullpen was supposed to be a strength, the defense was gonna be spotty... we all knew that. But its been atrocious.

As to Kipnis, yeah I mean... At least the return of Gomes might plug the 'Give the AB away" that spot was before and finally some signs of lif from Moss and Santana, so the offense may sort itself out if Brantley can hold it together (of course). And by "sort itself out" I mean "not completely suck"

The only thing I can think otherwise is to do what they don't want to, and Call up Lindor... he can defend at least, in the most important position... and when your current SS has a sub .950 fpct... and is hitting below the Mendoza line... yeah.... but, having said that, unless they think he's ready, they won't, I think they're looking for him to be able to play good D and hit .250... and were hoping Ramirez could give them that.

But having said all that... we're 50 games in, they're 24-26... basically .500... they've scored more runs than they've allowed so they're not outperforming their production... and I think that's where they'll end up...

The one guy on this team who I really feel bad for Ramirez. He knows that Lindor is 100 miles away and the Indians are just waiting on the clock. He is trying so hard in every aspect of the game that he is doing poorly and that is putting it mildly. I can see the effort in his face and I guess that is what bothers me. I think he really wants to succeed but he really is in a no-win situation right now.

I will never understand why the Indians signed Moss. That is just what they need another left-handed hitter and I do not care if he is playing somewhat decent. They needed a right-handed bat and they should have thrown some money at Billy Butler or another right-handed stick even if there was no power behind the stick. They needed a right-handed bat and failed to get one.

I also put a little blame for this team on Francona. It took him 30 games to see that Bourn was not hitting and Santana was not a three hole hitter. He also is so in love with Swisher I was surprised that he did not try to play him yesterday when they were out of position players. Well, maybe the Cavaliers will help me get over some of my harsh feelings regarding the Indians brass.

They won't call up Lindor as long as everyone's saying to call up Lindor. I expect them to wait until they are out of it, only to watch a September callup where he hits .350. As for Ramirez, yeah, I feel bad for him somewhat, but if he could, you know, hit and field, they'd stick him at 3rd. Speaking of which, Lonnie is Hannahan without the defense...so basically nothing. Kipnis is obviously playing well, and he and Brantley can dominate at times. Unfortunately, the rest of the lineup are "give you what they give you" guys. Is it possible that Moss goes on a HR tear? Yeah, its possible. But you put Bourn, Swisher, Murphy, Santana, Raburn out there...they're just guys. Gomes is a WC because we'll have to see what lingering effects he has.

The rotation is solid 4 deep, which will give chanced to win a lot of nights. The 5 spot is a dumpster fire but they don't use it every time through. The bullpen is a hot mess, and thats the one place they had better unfuck pronto. Every late kwad given away is a game they needed.

You only need two words to understand/accurately predict when Lindor's first chance to appear in Cleveland will be: Super Two. (What's Super Two? Decent summary is here: http://www.fangraphs.com/library/business/super-two/ ) If Lindor were to obtain Super Two status it could cost the Indians million$ in a few years.

As hapless as they are......I do believe there is some hope. They actually sacked up to the Royals this series and nobody else in the division looks very spectacular. If the starting pitching doesnt totally meltdown there is some sort of chance......
