Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

What a surprise...they start winning when a patsie comes to town. If they want to make any kind of serious run at the post season, they're going to have to learn how to play against teams with a pulse...

well coming out of the break 4 of their first 5 series are against patsies

3 vs Minnesota
3 vs Seattle

then you get the 3 vs the Rangers

3 vs Chicago White Sox
3 Vs Miami

then [Mark May] gets real with 4 vs the Tigers at home, which may be the most critical series of the year if they pull off a decent record against the patsies and Rangers

As of right now, the Tribe is 34-14 vs teams that are .500 or worse, but only 17-30 vs teams that are better than.500.

Maybe for some pitching help since they didn't do too bad without him?

offensively Avilles did very well filling in when Acab was hurt...but defensively its nearly impossible to replace what he does...it doesnt make sense to me for us to trade Acab for pitching at this point when Lindor is only in AA...say we trade Acab and then Avilles goes on the DL...what then? If we weren't in contention i could see Antonetti pulling the trigger on a deal alot sooner...i think if we trade for pitching it will be for other players in the minors...which may be a sign of why we havent had a trade happen yet because our minor league depth is pretty weak right now

I tend to agree. But, if they decide the return they could get for AsCab outweighs the risk of dealing him, I don't have a problem with that. Particularly if it returns some bullpen help (biggest weakness, in my IMO) or a starter that can consistently go more than 6 innings. For the record, I don't think they'll deal him, but wouldn't be too upset if they did. Yes, he's solid defensively, but he's been incredibly average offensively since his big first half in 2011...even < average for most of that time.

The Cardinals seem to be a popular suspected destination

If you can catch St Louis desperate and get a guy like Shelby Miller, you do it and slide Aviles in full time at short. We got a lot of young guys at short in the minors that could be brought up to. I think Drubs didn't spend much time at all in Buffalo at the time but I may be mistaken.

I would shit my pants if they could pull Shelby Miller out of Cabrera, I do not think STL will get that desperate for a SS though

The only hope of pulling Shelby Miller would to be to find St Louis drunk and concussed...not merely desperate.
