Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

Swisher is starting to bug me. He acts like a hot shot at the plate. I think it was last night. He had a 3-0 or 3-1 count and on a ball that was close to a strike, he assumed a ball and was halfway down the 1st base line. I understand if you drop your bat and casually stroll to 1st. So he turns around with a huge grin on his face and walked back with his "I'm sweet" stroll.

It's kind of getting old. He's started to do this kind of stuff more and more. Bro, you're batting like .240, how about you starting playing ball

This team still has enough games left against teams they should beat to make the playoffs...but there isn't much doubt about which side of the have/have not fence they still sit on. Will be an important offseason, if they can upgrade the Reynolds/Myers turd signings with 1-2 decent players, they will be even better next season. If...

So, to bring this full circle...there's always next year? :)

Swisher's numbers are on pace to be the worst of his career by a fairly wide margin. We have to hope it's because he's banged up, and not the start of a decline. Other than a pretty awful 2008 season, he had been remarkably consistent from 06-07 & 09-12. But, he is 32 years old...

man that shoulder has to be worse than they are letting on. his swing just looks awful at times and there is no pop

I agree he's looked way off on his swing. I mean .270 with 15-20 homers and 75 RBIs wasn't too much to ask for, but he will fall far short of all of those.

Kluber out 4-6 weeks....
Sprained fingers for the Indians is almost becoming like staph infection for the Browns. First it takes Adam Miller's entire career and then this season it takes Zack McAllister for close to two months and now Kluber and I would not be surprised if we do not see him for the rest of the series:(

I was going to post this yesterday but there was too much chatter about bankrupt city's sports team. I really do not understand why Francona brought in Rage to pitch the ninth inning. Even Manning from the TV booth was saying that he could tell Perez did not have it. I hate the term closer and I do not understand with three lefties coming out from the bankrupt city's baseball team why Francona did not bring in one of his shitty left-handed pitchers. I know they are worse than bad but if Perez was not ready I think one of those two guys would have been a better option. I also do not understand why Francona would say that even though they had someone warming up in the bullpen when Perez got in trouble that he was reluctant to bring him in because it would have thrown the rotation of the bullpen off. Sometimes I just do not understand Francona's thinking.

Don't forget Alex White who doesn't appear to have ever been the same since his issue. At least on that one, their previous experience with Miller likely made it easier to trade White following the injury.

I'm guessing they lay a total turd next year....

Remember in 2005 when they nearly made the playoffs? the hype going into 2006 they totally [Mark May] the bed

same with 2007 when they nearly went to the world series....came out in 2008 and crapped their pants

the last time they put together 2 good seasons in a row was 2000 and 2001 (and that was in the tail end of a string of 7 good seasons)

I do not know. If they can re-sign Kazmir and he has another year like this year and Kluber and McAllister come back healthy they could have a pretty nice pitching rotation. They can use the money from Ubaldo and re-sign Kazmir and maybe get a bat from somewhere and they might be able to make a run at a wildcards spot. I do not think anyone is going to beat the motor city boys for a while at least not in the AL Central.

Tito's a good manager, forgiving the gaffe of trotting pure filth out there the other night. I'm sure he can get these goons playing competitively next season. Problem is, this franchise, as it stands has a glass ceiling. They have a shaky bullpen, and a lineup with giant holes in it. I'd expect more Reynolds-like retread signings this winter. They made two pretty big signings this offseason, and one of them has been a washout so far.

They need to hope that Lindor and Ramirez aren't far off. Then you have Lindor/Ramirez/AsCab and Kipnis. Maybe Kipnis or Lindor ultimately moves to 3B. Deal AsCab for something. I just don't think Chis is gonna pan out. His defense is bad, and I'm not cconvinced he can ever provide enough offense for a power position on a team lacking big bats. Maybe somebody like Naquin pans out. You also have Paulino in the middle infield, so there may be some trading chips. Then hope you can get Bauer and Salazar to reach their potential, and supplement those guys with some lower-level FAs.

The future isn't beaming, but it could be pretty decent if these younger guys pan out and they make some smart moves. The franchise as it's constructed now has to just hope to eek into a wildcard to get drubbed by Boston or Detroit in the first series.
