That is a serious injury for Willis McGahee
Matt Lawson has retired from baseball.
The Indians acquired Lawson this past offseason from the Mariners in exchange for left-hander Aaron Laffey. Lawson, a 25-year-old infielder, posted a rough .705 OPS in 30 games at Double-A this year before calling it quits on Tuesday. No reason was given for his decision.

Indians prospect right-hander Jason Knapp underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday.
The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek. Indians VP of player development Ross Atkins said the procedure was done to to "stabilize and tighten the anterior aspect of the shoulder." The Indians are hoping that he will be ready for the start of the 2012 season. Knapp, 20, was one of the key pieces from the Cliff Lee deal in 2009.

Getting no-hit tonight. As awful as this offense has been (maybe as bad as I've ever seen, and that says something), against Verlander....phew, fuhgeddaboutit...no-hitter. They've been getting 3, 4, 5 hits against mediocre pitchers.

Phew, OCab came through, now we'll just get shutout as opposed to no hit. Small victories when you're in a nosedive.

14 runs in the last ten games. This is a historically bad run.
We have a Catcher hitting .22o who seem like he looks to walk everytime up, a 1B who has shown no ability to hit ML pitching on a regular basis and I'm hoping can be Ben Broussard at this point, an over-the-hill, poor fielding 2B with a .572 OPS, a .220 hitting 3B, a AAAA LF who was hitting cleanup at one point, Austin fucking Kearns, a glass vase in CF, and a RF who is playing like a poor man's Cory Snyder. The starting pitching has been slammed back to earth and our supposed "ace" is a total waste of a roster spot at this point. But hey, at least the bullpen is still solid for once.
It was an enjoyable six week run, but this is the worst team in baseball right now despite what their record says. Rough sledding ahead. Cord Phelps looks totally overwhelmed, but hopefully some of the other guys in Columbus fare better, because we need them to, badly.
