I don't understand Clase throwing three straight sliders. Carpenter fouled off the second one. Gotta:

Also, I hope that umpire isn't behind the plate for the rest of the series. Inside or low was 50/50 on whether it's a strike or ball.

I guess you can call it soiling themselves or a meltdown or imploding, but I think it was just a very dumb sequence of pitches.

Cutter, Cutter, Cutter, Slider, Slider, Slider

Carpenter fouled off the second Slider and it looked like a pretty good swing. If knowing that and given that Clase throws a 100 MPH Cutter, I don't understand why you wouldn't go with the heater, instead of tripling up on the Slider. I think if the sixth pitch is a Cutter, Carpenter is out.

Yea I didn't understand it either.

I guess we will see what this team was made of tomorrow, hopefully the ace closer falling apart and blowing that game doesn't lead to the whole team psyche deflating. I think we pretty much have to win both games in Detroit because I wouldn't count on doing much against Skubal again in a 5th game.

To be fair, if the offense wasn't completely limp dick and didn't hack into double plays with runners on 3rd twice, it's a completely different game and that maybe doesn't happen
