I see why the locals in West Palm told us not to go to Miami when we went down for spring break years ago.

Miami, FloridaGay nightlife, hotels, gay owned restaurants and attractions have made Miami Beach the epicenter of gay life in South Florida and one of the top gay travel destinations in the world.
Looks like Honolulu, New York, Boston, and Key West are also off my "to visit one day" list.

I can understand having an Olympics for those with physical or mental disabilities as they are often not capable of the same sorts of physical feats that non-disadvantages athletes are.

But a Gay Olympics? If you want equality, stop separating YOURSELVES.

I am not sure what this means. Asking for, fighting for, equality is great.

But if you do that, don't then ALSO create situations in which you separate yourself. We have an Olympics. We don't need a separate Gay Olympics. You are either an Olympic athlete or you aren't, it shouldn't matter that you are also attracted to the same sex, especially not if you also spend your days whinging about how being attracted to the same sex shouldn't matter in all other aspects of your life. I hate hypocrisy.

It means that whenever anyone is asked to make concessions for anyone to feel equal then they are in fact belitleing themselves

Asking for separate treatment, such as in this instance, is belittling. Asking for equal treatment, such as integrated schooling and un-segregated bathrooms, is not.

This makes sense to me. Wanting equality, when you are in fact not equal, is not belittling as in the example Katt has made. Creating separateness, while asking for equality, yes, that is belittling one's own cause. No one should use the word n****r(Since the forum automatically creates a null form of nothing but stars for this word which emphasizes the point I am trying to make.) in any form, insult or camaraderie, for example, or it loses the entire power behind being angry about its use, in my opinion.

Everyone wants to know; Why a Gay Olympics?

Gay Games

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search
"Gay Olympics" redirects here. For other uses, see Gay Olympics (disambiguation)
"The Gay Games is the world's largest sporting and cultural event organized by and specifically for LGBT athletes, artists, musicians, and others. It welcomes participants of every sexual orientation and every skill level. Originally called the Gay Olympics, it was started in San Francisco in 1982, as the brainchild of Tom Waddell, whose goals were to promote the spirit of inclusion and participation, as well as the pursuit of personal growth in a sporting event."

It would seem the "cultural" part is important. The modern games are "political" for the most part. Though one could certainly argue that the Gay Olympics have a "political" component.
And then there is the Greek history of the original Olympics, where Athens supported the lifestyle openly. (pederasty)

I can foresee this chain of events happening.

Gay Olympics Opening Day: Brady "I'm not Gay" Quinn is keynote speaker at social conservative rally denouncing the presence of the games in Cleveland.

Day 4 of Gay Olympics: Brady "I'm not Gay" Quinn arrested in public park blowing one of the athletes.
