Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I'm a Danny Green fan

I'd like to keep Kevin Love... good for the locker room, good for the bench, and still reliable
but I want him at a fraction of his current $29M.. say $8M like Thaddeus Young
If it makes sense for some team to trade for him so they can use $29M off their cap at contract end doesn't that hold true for us too?
cuz Garland gets a monster pay raise next year.. actually more than Mitchell

Can we trade Love now and resign him when he gets cut like we did w Rubio?
Who got cut so we could add Green?
Where's @exhawg when ya need him?

No place even has him on the roster yet. I imagine they have a few days to make the determination but I'd think maybe the guys on dual contracts will just be playing all their time in Canton with Green added to the roster. I wouldn't hate it if it were Levert but that's me.

I see Isiah Mobley isn't on a registered contract so I'd say he might be the one staying in Canton for awhile. Do they get additional roster spots for the playoffs?

Second hottest team in the NBA (behind the Bucks, of course..). They're firing on all cylinders. Want to stop the guards? That's fine. Good luck handling Mobley and Allen. Want to stop them? Well, you can't, and then the guards will score 50-60 points.

Okoro has been shooting over 40% from three over the last couple months.

The Cavs have a top 10ish offense (wild considering their pace) and the best defense. Second best point differential, only behind Boston (who they've beat twice).

If the Cavs didn’t sleepwalk through the first half, the 6ers would’ve been dominated. They almost blew a 28 point lead.
Too often. They do that too often unfortunately. There's way too much talent to be digging out of holes, especially when they were easily 9 deep at one point. With Love leaving now I would say they aren't as deep and there are more unknowns for production coming off the bench.

However, Mitchell-Garland-Green-Mobley and Allen is a damn good starting 5 and probably the best in the East once they mesh a little more.

I have been trying to listen to a lot of podcasts this season since I've never been a huge NBA guy until now. JJ Redick is high on the Cavs and is really the only person who gives them the time of day. He's an advanced stats guy. I'm not into them, but when it comes to the clutch time stats, I think there's something there. The Cavs suck in clutch time compared to the other contenders (Cavs are hovering around .500). They are an elite team in nearly every other metric. I suspect that will improve with time. And if the Cavs get the same playoff version of Donovan Mitchell that Utah got... that will definitely improve. Haha

Donovan didn't have his explosiveness for a little bit after that groin injury, either. Seems like he has that back.

Sounds like Kevin Love is going to get bought out and might end up in Miami. Sucks. But the Cavs have been a lot better since he has stopped getting minutes.. so.

Cavs need to play Danny Green while Allen is out I'd like to see them move Okoro to the 4 instead of bringing in Lamar Stephens. Need to fill the void but it's really not easy to do. Maybe Lopez plays more minutes, he played well against Charlotte the last game. Tough schedule to end the year. Ugh

I think 4th is the best they will be able to do so one series at home. On the bright side they are one of 4 teams in the East that have the firepower to go to the Finals if the bench can not suck in the playoffs. I feel like the Cavs will go as far as Mobley can take them. The other 3 stars are who they are at this point, but Mobley is just scratching the surface for what he is capable of becoming. He isn't going to surpass Mitchell this year, but if he can become the best player on the team in the next year or two the sky is the limit.

I take it back. The Cavs are only 1.5 games behind Philly and Philly has a much harder remaining schedule so there is a chance the Cavs can move up to 3. The Sixers need to make sure Embiid is 100% going into the playoffs so I wouldn't be surprised to see him rest more for the final 7 games. All 7 teams they have left are fighting for playoff positioning so it's going to be a rough go. Only 2 of the Cavs final 6 opponents are fighting for the playoffs.
