Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I'd be fine with both Porzingis + Noah for Irving and Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for Irving deals. Porzingis and Tatum are special, and Brown was the only Boston player worth a damn in that playoff series last year. Those trades may not make us better than the Warriors, but it certainly puts us in a better place if LeBron leaves.

Sidenote: the Knicks would be fucking crazy to deal Porzingis for Kyrie. But that's why they're the Knicks.

Bill Simmons presented this one on Twitter. It isn't my favorite trade, but I'm intrigued. Kemba isn't as good a shotmaker, but he's still a high-quality scorer and playmaker. Monk should be a solid piece, too.

Eck. Thomas is a FA after this season. Wouldn't you want the main piece to be someone who's around for a minute at least? Unless the cavs are selling all in one the one year plan for whatever reason. Which leaves them completely screwed after 17-18.

Great deal for the Cavs. Next years draft could be one of the strongest top heavy drafts in a while, and the Nets are the worst team in the league. That is an almost a certain top 3 pick, so the diamond in the deal. Then matching up with Golden State, you have to out score them, and try to defend them as best as possible. You now add the leagues third leading scorer, and one of its top defenders in Crowder. You have Thomas and LBJ this year and hope for something special, if they both bail, you build around your new high end draft pick.

Now they just need to turn Thomas for a PG that can help against the Warriors. Does this make Kyrie the main guy in Boston or is he still #2?

IT was the "main guy" so Kyrie will definitely be that in Boston. As a Celtics' fan, the price was kind of steep but Boston has had no shortage of draft picks and I wasn't interested in giving a max contract to a 5'9" PG. The Cavs need that first round pick more than the Celtics. Irving is signed for at least 2 years, 3 if he doesn't opt out of the final year, giving Boston time to decide if he's worthy of a max deal.

Good trade for both teams, although I would've liked to have kept Crowder. The Celtics have several other guys cut from that mold, and Hayward was taking that starting spot anyway. Jaylen Brown's continued development will be key.

Just depends on Crowder and Thomas really playing great defense. I don't see IT being that. The number one pick is the best part. What it's D Rose breaks his steak and stays healthy? What it's Thomas with on the market? Is Zizic even going to make the team?

The good thing for the Cavs is their 2019 pick is protected (top 10) so if LBJ and Thomas (or whoever they swap him for) bail they'll likely get a very high Nets pick then their own very high pick the next year. Doesn't really matter how good the Celtics get because they aren't going to beat the Warriors. Better for the Cavs to give it one more go then liquidate for 5-6 years down the road. Maybe Lebron can go play for the Lakers for 4 years then come back to play PF for the Cavs for the last couple years of his career after they have a chance to rebuild again.
