I've heard that and I get what is meant by it, but given the fact a series can end without someone winning on the road it doesn't make much sense to me.
I hear ya. But a series can only be won by one team with nobody winning on the road, and that means the team that had home court and was "supposed" to win, won the series. That makes it more a formality than a series.
Then again, if each team wins their home games, then it goes to game 7 and I personally, would still call that a
series. Hell, a four game sweep is a series. They are all a series but I guess that saying refers to being a series in doubt which can be won by either team.
If that "someone" who wins on the road, is the team with home court advantage, then I guess we shouldn't really call that a series either. Expedited series maybe?
New saying...
"It isn't a series until the underdog wins a road game."
In this case, that means the Cavs. If the Cavs aren't going to take one in Oakland, then it's merely a matter of time until we see Curry and Co. hoisting the trophy. Just a formality.
