Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I don't see Turner as a good fit on the Cavs unless it's insurance against Kyrie getting hurt. Not that Turner would play PG, but he's a player that needs the ball in his hands and the Cavs don't need another one of those if Lebron and Kyrie are healthy, especially in the playoffs when they will play more minutes.

The Cavs' rosters as it currently stands, ranked in order of importance:

01. Lebron James (assuming he re-signs)
02. Kyrie Irving
03. Kevin Love
04. Iman Shumpert
05. Timofey Mozgov________
06. Tristan Thompson
07.
08.
09.
10. Anderson Varejao
11.
12.
13. Joe Harris
14. Mike Miller
15.

If Delly and James Jones re-sign, they will presumably (hopefully) fill slots #11 and #12 - guys who can give you 8 to 10 minutes a game but won't be relied upon to fill key roles like they had to in this year's NBA finals.

Maybe Rakeem Christmas fills the #15 slot, just for jersey sales - what Cavs fan wouldn't want a Christmas jersey?

It will be interesting to see who fills slots #7, #8, and #9 - those will be key rotational players, maybe the difference between a championship and another second-place finish.
I have to say, I agree those spots will be very important. All the people saying "We don't need JR" or "who cares who else we get" are way off base. Its easy to break things down to looking at winning next years finals, but to get there the season is 100+ basketball games. We need guys who can score in Milwaukee on a Thursday when LBJ wants a night off and Kyrie is limiting his minutes. There will be ample opportunities for guys to play here, all the way up to the conference finals

LeBron isn't coming back
Kevin Love is not joining the Cavs
LOL Cavs traded top pick!
LeBron hates his new coach
Cavs are doomed with start to year
Kevin Love hates it in Cleveland
David Blatt will be fired
Cavs won't win the East
LOL Cavs traded another top pick!!
LeBron hates Kevin Love
David Blatt will still be fired
Cavs won't make the Finals
Did we mention David Blatt will be fired?!
Kevin Love is leaving

Throw in the lazy "LeBron is leaving" article every couple weeks and I think I'm close- though I know I am forgetting a bunch. Can't remember in my life the media just WILLING AND WISHING stories to happen for the sake of building an agenda against a team.

Well, other than 2004: Ohio State.

tl;dr- fuck the media

And not a single mention of Love trades?
It's been like Braxton transfer rumors all year... whose going to win the sweepstakes? Oh, neither of them are going anywhere.

I was thinking of Turner as more of a Point Forward when Lebron or Kyrie are on the bench. That way you could sign a guy like Cole to be the "backup PG" but he would end up being more of the 3rd PG.

Yeah I definitely think Turner would be nice to have, I just think the Cavs in particular would get more value out of a player that was more of the Shumpert style (shoot off the catch and play good D). To me, Turner has good value overall in the NBA, but less to the Cavs than the average NBA team.

I am with you 100%. Everyone remembers his performance in the Finals but forget the regular season and playoff run...JR was basically lights out that whole stretch and I think he was a huge part of us even reaching the Finals. I realize we can't overpay him too much and there are some contingencies, but I think he falls right in that #6-8 zone coming off the bench and being a regular contributor. He operates well under LeBron and I personally want him back.

As for Delly and Jones...I think they can play a role if the price is right. I'm not as gun-ho on bringing them back as many are but I'm not opposed to it based on what else is out there.

I agree that JR is great as a 4th option. He only had issues when he was elevated to 2nd option.

Bingo. He is not going to consistently be the Kyrie/Love equivalent as he was forced to be by the time we reached the Finals. You have those guys back and he can be pretty lethal. I mean, he was all season when we had at least 2 of LeBron/Kyrie/Love in.

I have serious doubts that we get past Chicago without JR. I don't want him long a long-term deal for obvious reasons, but I'd like him back. I also have Delly somewhere around #8 or #9 on our roster hierarchy. He can play some serious ball for short stretches!

I think this is a good example of how the human mind works. We give undue prominence to the most recent memories.

To address some of the previous posts I would love if they could move BHC for Turner, but I don't see why the C's would make that move. Turner might not be great, but he is better than unused cap space. I don't see them finding a better option with that money and the Cavs don't have assets to return.

I was more hopeful of the Turner idea when it looked like the Celts might be bidding on one of the big free agents. I still wonder if they might want to clear some space a year ahead of time. A lot depends on how they feel about Turner.

I noticed a lot of people on here aren't big on Turner, but I think he is versatile and is closer to true SF size than anyone else on the roster.

The bolded is exactly what I was thinking...he was absolutely huge in that series, even moreso than in other stretches.

02. Kyrie Irving
03. Kevin Love
04. Iman Shumpert
05. Timofey Mozgov________

08. Patty Mills
09. Tayshaun Prince? Gosh, I have no frigin' clue but some SF
10. Anderson Varejao
11. Matthew Dellavedova
12. James Jones
13. Joe Harris
14. Mike Miller
15. Rakeem Christmas

I actually think Christmas is going to end up being a real player. Dude's wingspan is 7'5 for Gods sake and he is an aggressive defender in the paint. Also has a decent outside shot for a big as well. Might not be this season but he could come on.
