I imagine the second year opt out also protects him...if he blows out all his arms he still has a year of more moneyNo he'll do another two year deal with an opt out. This allows him to get $1.5ish Million more and I guess it gives the cavs cap flexibility
New cap won't kick in until 16-17 season
There is a reason Lebron will be the last to resign, and it has nothing to do with cap space.
3. We could easily trade Love later.
Stunned but very happy.https://twitter.com/WindhorstESPN/status/616313685351485440

Kevin Love will accept a five-year, $110 million contract extension with the Cavs according to sources
He knows his injury history...better to cash in now. Glad to see it.Stunned but very happy.
still thought he'd do a 2 year deal with an opt out to get more money next year.... very happy with the deal especially with the new cap in place. He knows his injury history...better to cash in now. Glad to see it.
Wow. That's a lot of money for a role player. I guess it pays to be on LeBald's good side.https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/616312167470514176

ESPN sources tell @WindhorstESPN & I that Cavs and Tristan Thompson are nearing agreement on deal that will pay the RFA in excess of $80 mil
Also a great signing if they can lock it down. Its really good business by Gilbert, invest now and throw large numbers out there, knowing it will be hard for them to turn down and knowing that when the cap spikes, a big deal now looks like a reasonable one later. Players get long term stability. I can see a lot of GM/owners signing for less years when there is more money involved.https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/616312167470514176
