Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Well... he does have fabulous hair...

I have a lot of confidence in David Griffin

which teams are in cap dilemmas? that will give hints as to what might happen in the next 10 days and who our trade partners might be
I would be surprised if Gilbert has any problem ante-ing up whatever money it costs for the next couple yrs to bring a title...
when you are a billionaire.. do you really worry about $100M; like.. what can you do with $1B that you can't do with $900M; it's not a lifestyle change

Love will be 27 in Sept... he doesn't have forever for a team to get to championship level...
LA will be PLAYOFF tier in the next couple yrs... Russell and Love combined don't take a 21-win team to West Conf playoffs in year 1; maybe year 2; and maybe contenders year 4-5
that would make Love 31-32 and into 'diminishing skills' tier... so his clock is ticking; that shoulder will never feel the same...

Boston only compresses that time line by 1 year
If he has any desire to play in the Championship tier while he is at the top of his game, he signs with the Cavs

Anybody else having thoughts about Silicon Valley's billionaire nutcase?

I wouldn't mind Pierce. I think that complicates your crunch time lineup a bit (you'd definitely want him on the floor as an over-qualified spot-up shooter like Ray Allen was for the Heat), but it won't happen. Too much bad blood between he and LeBron over the years.

I also read somewhere that the Cavs may move on from JR Smith if they can find attain a guard that they like with the Haywood contract.

Sam Amico‏@AmicoBasketball
Kevin Love has indicated to Cavs recently he plans to return. Cavs also hope to execute Brendan Haywood contract trade quickly after July 1.

If that's the case how dumb is JR going to feel for not picking up his option for next year. I don't see any other team willing to give him more than that for multiple years.

I think it was an article from a Cleveland news source with the speculation on JR. And yeah, it could end up being a huge mistake on his part. I think he's most likely to get offers from a team that is one piece from having a title contender, and most of those teams are probably against the cap as it is.

My facebook news thread is plastered with people laughing at Cleveland because Lebron is "opting out." That was the plan all along wasn't it? With the new salary cap and everything, wasn't he planning on renegotiating and getting the max contract?

No he'll do another two year deal with an opt out. This allows him to get $1.5ish Million more and I guess it gives the cavs cap flexibility

New cap won't kick in until 16-17 season

People are stupid and believe everything the media puts out there. Pitiful

Only problem the headlines will read "Lebron and Love not sold on Cavs future, only sign for 1 year" in a few days. There are 2 things that Lebron wants (1) To win (2) To get paid. From what I've heard for the foreseeable future he will not take one dime less than the max he can get.

I'm friends with a Miami fan who said he's going back to the Heat.

I'm mostly disgusted with ESPN, who put it on their front page with the headline "Another Decision."
