Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

Let's not overlook they still suck at what they have been sucking at. Can't run the ball, can't stop the run, TEs can't catch, RBs cant pick up blitzes, can't cover #1 receivers in some games...and the pass rusher savants we keep drafting are putting zero pressure on the QB.

That's what I meant by basic competence problems. :slappy:

Yeah but it sounds so much better with details

Well... right, and the insult to injury here is McCown gets knocked out because of his own stupidity... and as such, not only is it zero points off a great drive... the offense isn't going to get more competent with Manziel in the game... so... the stupid part led to extra suck.

Then more... and more... and more stupid.

These dudes were winning 10-7 until 24 seconds left in the first half, and managed to lose 31-10. To the Jets. Dark days, my friends. And in honor of McCown...

I'll give it another week before panic. The Jets have the best run
Defense in the NFL. Clearly we have elite pass protection, so let's see how we fare against Tennessee.

Early on we stopped the interior run quite well, however as the late game wore on and the offense couldn't stay on the field, they started to collapse.

Our pass rush savants didn't see the field. Orchard was out and Cooper was inactive, hence why they didn't put pressure on.

Tennessee has done a major upgrade on D this year. I anticipate they will wax the Browns, especially if Mariotta looks that good again.

Elite pass protection means nothing when you have a qb that can't throw and no receivers to throw to anyway.

That's why I'm praying McCown comes back and doesn't run like a dumbass. In that early going he was looking very steady. Which is beyond shocking to say.

The problem is the first drive wouldn't have gone more than 1 1st down if McCown didn't run like a dumbass. He had at least 2-3 put himself in harms way runs on that series and at least 1 of them took every bit of dive he could pull out of his ass to get the first down. That's the way he plays the game and why he is a career backup. It would be a start if he could at least not get himself helicoptered in the endzone, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up seeing less than 50% of the snaps this season and the Browns add at least one more name to the starting QB jersey by the end of the year.

It's like he gets off on it.
