Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Does this mean they pass on one of the top end WR in the draft at 13

because if baker isn’t your guy and you gotta get desperate in the 23 draft you basically have no weapons, other than Chubb and Hunt, but rbs usually fall off a cliff quickly

Though the Cleveland Browns acquired an elite offensive weapon via trade Friday, it looks as if they could be losing another key wide receiver. Jarvis Landry has received permission to seek a trade from the Browns, per a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

"Jarvis Landry and his camp are open to remaining with the #Browns, though it wouldn’t be at the $15 million he’s currently scheduled to earn," Garafolo wrote. "The sides are trying to figure out if staying is possible, though it’s likely he’s played his last down with Cleveland.

The news comes just a few hours after Cleveland traded with the Dallas Cowboys for wide receiver Amari Cooper. In February, Landry took to social media to express his desire for a new contract, citing sacrifices he had made for the Browns.

“Reality behind all this is I came back to play in the best shape of my life, I got hurt week 2 with high grade MCL Sprain, Partial quad tear and bone bruise,” Landry wrote. “Then came back way too early and ended up staying hurt the entire season. You never heard me mention anything about it. Also my media availability didn’t happen because I was focused n getting on the field as healthy as possible during the week and after games. A strategic plan was set in place to be followed. I put the ball in (Cleveland’s) court by telling them I would like to stay but if not then I have put the ball in (Cleveland’s) court by telling them I would like to stay but if not then I’m confident enough in myself to be a better healthy me this year and moving forward to helping do my part in winning a championship elsewhere.”

Landry continued to add two more tweets after his initial thread.

“Before this year I missed 0 games. So push y’all narrative, it’s noted,” Landry wrote. “I GAVE EVERYTHING!!!! EVERYTHING.”

Cooper is pretty “meh” to me. He’s definitely better than any of the detritus they have on the roster now, but he’s played in 2 of the best passing attacks in the league and has had good, not great years in them. He’s had one 90 catch season and has never eclipsed 1200 yards. I just don’t see him elevating the passing game that much. On the other hand, it’s not like they gave up a haul to get him, so can’t hurt anything.

edit to add - this isn’t me knocking the trade, they essentially got a 5x 1000 yard receiver for a 5th round pick. You make that trade. I’m just saying I don’t see Cooper suddenly making the Browns passing game magically better. He’s an upgrade on what they have, but not an automatic fix for the woes they have.

Drafting an edge rusher would be just fine. You’re an idiot if you think otherwise.
Um, I do think otherwise and I'm not an idiot. They have 2 proven DEs on the roster right now. One of them is one of the best in the league. The other is solid at the very least. The WRs however, beside the newly acquired Cooper, consists of a scUMmer and an anime-obsessed glorified track star. If they draft any other position than WR @13 then they are stupid. But then again, this is the Browns we're talking about
