Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

“Garrett looked like he'd make a run at the record in the first two months of last season, racking up nine sacks in the first seven games,” Schein wrote. “But he missed two games after testing positive for COVID-19 and just didn't look the same upon return, dealing with additional injuries that also sapped his superpowers. Make no mistake, though: When this cat's right, he's unblockable, with size, speed, skill and a motor like no other. And it's not like he's surrounded by scrubs, either. With a bevy of high-end free-agent additions (Jadeveon Clowney, Malik Jackson, John Johnson III and Troy Hill) and a pair of instant-impact draft picks (Greg Newsome II and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah), the Browns' D is loaded at all three levels. So opponents can't just throw every resource at Garrett. The man is going to eat.”

Ranking the top 10 NFL offseasons by team: Browns, Buccaneers and Chargers reign supreme

1. Cleveland Browns

  • Key additions: DE Jadeveon Clowney, DT Malik Jackson, CB Troy Hill, S John Johnson III
  • Key rookies: LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, CB Greg Newsome II
The pendulum has officially swung all the way from "laughingstock" to "powerhouse," or at least close to it. Yes, the Browns still need to prove themselves deep into the playoffs, but their roster was already incredibly balanced going into the offseason. Then they loaded up on defense, where Clowney's presence alone should aid Myles Garrett and guys like Hill and Johnson should bring confidence to a young and oft-banged-up secondary. Cleveland aced the test and still has plenty of cap space. This team, complete with a healthier Kevin Stefanski offense, is primed to contend not only for the AFC North but beyond it.

Ranking 2021 NFL bounce-back candidates: Odell Beckham Jr. headlines top 10 players set to rebound

obj7.jpg

1. Odell Beckham Jr.
Is there a more simultaneously overrated and underrated wideout in the NFL? His critics say the Giants were right to deal him, that Baker Mayfield plays better without him, that he's never fully invested, that he's nowhere near as scary as his talent and early career suggests. What they miss is the fact he's topped 1,000 yards every time he's played at least 12 games (five times!), the fact he's eclipsed 13.5 yards per catch in all but one season, and the possibility that he'll go off in what could be his first full season under the Kevin Stefanski regime. Jarvis Landry may be Mayfield's favorite, and the Browns' offense starts on the ground, but if he can stay on the field, there's no reason to think yet another 1,000-yard campaign won't happen as Cleveland solidifies itself as a contender.

“We have 11 guys on offense returning, which is insane — I’ve never heard of that,” Teller said, via Anthony Poisal of the team’s website. “We’ve got the guys in the backfield who can do it at a high level … and if the best D-Line play is our own team, I’ll be very, very happy.”
