Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

More often than not tOSU produces kids that are NFL quality and NFL ready.

I get it but we are talking the sixth round. The odds are against everyone drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds. Just not sure every time Cleveland or Cincy do not pick a Buckeye, they do not know what they are doing.

Scheme and current roster plays a huge role in decisions.

All in all. This had to be the least dramatic and stupid draft that the Browns have had since I can remember. All the picks were in positions of needs and very solid. The only pick I scratched my head on was the Jacob Phillips pick but then again he was all over mock draft boards. Saw him being picked in the 3rd and saw him being drafted as late as the 6th. However, by pick.

1. Wills, OT - A+ - The best LT in the draft IMO and the biggest need for the team. Day 1 starter.
2. Delpit, S - A+ - Arguably, the best safety in the draft and a difference maker for the D. Day 1 starter. Plus got the player they wanted and a 5th rounder in return.
3. Elliot, DT- A- - Madubuike was off the board and was my favorite 2nd day DT. Elliot will help with depth the question I have is how he plays against the run (grade is an A- due to getting a 21 3rd rounder from the Saints).
3. Phillips, LB, B- - Will help against the run but can he cover the pass. This is one guy I don't know enough about considering how erratic the LSU defense was last year.
4. Bryant, TE, A+ - Kid is a well-rounded TE that can block. Easily a top 5 TE in the draft. I feel he will be in the rotation with Hooper and Njoku.
5. Harris, C/G, A - Depth in interior o-line was needed. Versatile and can play all 3 interior positions. Might even be a Day 1 opposite Bitino at the other Guard spot.
6. DPJ, WR, A+ - If this kid comes to play, he is in the rotation as the 3rd or 4th receiver. IMO, could be the steal of the Draft.

Overall - A. This is the first year that I did not want to throw my beer through the TV because the Browns did something so stupid that set the franchise back several years per stupid pick. They made smart sound picks and sensible trades.

I'm very happy with their draft this year.

DP-J arguably has the higher ceiling, but KJ has the higher floor.

My issue with DP-J is that kids that drop passes in college usually don’t learn to catch in the NFL. It’s not a developmental league.

Braylon Edwards 2.0
Notable exception, Paul Warfield. He dropped a lot his first two years then got better. By the time he got to Cleveland he was an instant star.

More likely a backup for Tretter and a chance to compete at RG. Tretter just signed a 3 year deal so if this guy develops he could be a replacement. Pretty sure they've been working Forbes at C as well, but he has a better chance to win the RG spot.
Browns should have waited a couple years and then drafted Harry Miller in the second round when he comes out:wink:
