Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

I think there was a chance they would go WR with their 1st regardless, now you get one of the top-5 receivers in the league (who is only 26), you give up a 3rd rounder (usually a toss up if the player pans out) and you get rid of GerbiLLL. My only concern is he has missed, what, 16 games the past two seasons? If he proves to be injury-prone, he could Andre Rison this team.

Wow. I was just starting to like the role Peppers was filling but the nickel safety can be replaced with all the tweeners in the collegiate game.

That said, I had a feeling they weren't in love with any of the receivers at 17. Now you'll need to address Dline/Oline 2nd and 3rd.

D-line? Probably could use another player on the O-line to fight for a job or add depth, but I don't think they trade away their RG if they didn't feel they had an adequate replacement. Probably focus the draft on DB, LB, and maybe a TE. Definitely just started the win now phase of the rebuild. I hated the thought of trading for OBJ when they were asking for 2 future firsts, but I can accept #17 and Peppers. He might have showed some signs of good play, but he f'd up enough that I'm not sad to see one less scUMer on the team. I think they can find someone to do at least as good of a job at FS for a lower pick or less money. This offense could be special next year with OBJ and Perriman/Higgins on the outside. Leaving Landry and Njoku to find room in the middle. Don't forget Chubb and Duke in the backfield and the chance of Hunt being able to play by the end of the season. I would recommend finding an experienced backup QB with a similar skillset to Baker.

Edit- Totally forgot Callaway. This WR group is crazy.

All I’m saying is the Browns spent a 1st on him. In essence they threw another 1st round pick away. Everyone on here knows the Browns drafting ineptitude is why they have have sucked for so long.
Well in this case they at least parlayed it into a top 5 WR. Solid job of cleaning up the mess and not leaving themselves with another David Veikune

The depth behind what we have on Dline isn't what anybody would call confidence inspiring. But I also listed Oline as a need. Dorsey feels he has a replacement because he drafted "his" guy. Little else to go on with only 16 snaps of film. LB will be the group I watch next since we've basically just forgone the first night of the draft.

As for the FS spot - why does everyone seemingly forget that Randall quietly had a pretty damn solid year?

Not disagreeing and hated this waste of a 1st rd. pick from the start
Well, in retrospect, they got a decent year out of him last year and he helped them land a potentially franchise shifting offensive talent. And i can live with sending away a guy picked in the mid-twenties. It's those top-half of the first, and top-ten in particular, that kill ya.

With any luck, we won’t be picking there for a while.
